I debadged my tailgate and this is how I did it . Get a plastic narrow putty knife that is flat ( not metal ) Use a spray bottle with water and a few drops of soap in it and spray the top and and bottom and sides of the letters , then put your plastic putty knife and under one corner of the letter and wiggle it off with the knife . the key is keep the letters wet so you dont scratch the paint , it comes off so easy that way, took me 20 min to do all the letters . Then with a cleaner wax , clean the glue and goasting off . I tryed the fishing line method and it sucked , just cut through the letters and my skin , my way went four times faster . Let me know if you use this method and how it worked for ya .

A super easy way to de-badge is to take some fishing line, cut a few feet of it, hook it under the emblem and pull up and down like you are sawing the glue behind the emblem. Wont damage the paint and comes off pretty easy.
Found a video, too easy. Hope that helps

    Lets see..

I built and installed new leafs in one truck. Then installed new upper control arm, brake, spindle and lower ball joint and cv. Then went to a junk yard and got a new steering rack. Welded up a bracket. Installed said new rack.

    Frankenstein lives.

    Long day.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I've been thinking about debadging the original red vinyl lettering (V6 and Tacoma LX at the bottom) leaving just the chrome badges.

My concern is that with paint fade (sun) after I take them off you'll still be able to see the outline where they used to be. So, I haven't.

I guess the fix for that would be to move the chromies down to the bottom and try to cover them up, although I prefer them at the top.

Well I do understand your concern but if you use a good cleaner wax ( Im a huge fan of meguiars cleaner wax in one bottle ) you should be ok . I still see a little goasting of the SR5 when I removed them from the side next to the side window but thats no big deal to me . I live in phoenix and the sun is really hard on our paint here and my truck is ten years old so it wasnt to bad

man, Had I known this I would have went with OME (even Adam suggested to me that I should go this route but I didnt listen since billy's were cheaper :(). But so far so good so I cant really complain. I havent been wheeling a whole lot since the lift cuz the wifey is prego, so we shall see in a couple of months when I really start to beat on her (my truck, not my wife :p )

I was actually able to rip mine off with my fingers. then just rubbed off the let over glue with my finger.....had some nasty blisters but owell...lol.....then I waxed the truck. no sun fade here

So is $180 a good price for LBJ shipped to my door?

If you're in Phoenix I'm pretty sure there's plenty of ambient heat in the heat of day.

I live in Colorado and I debadged mine in August when it was 100 degrees out. Didn't need fishing line or anything. Just peeled them off with my fingers.

Afterwards you'll need to put some elbow grease into it. I removed the remaining adhesive with Goo Gone. Then washed, clay barred, polished, and waxed the truck.

After removing the badges 11 or 12 years later on a dark truck you couldn't even tell the difference in paint.
