Op, I ordered theses parts from a Toyota dealer online. The steering wheel trim is from a 2014 T4R, Trail Edition. I too hated the silver on the wheel, and on my last oil-change at Toyota, the lot jokey put a gouge or scratch right in my line of sight on the wheel.

That said since I hated seeing that scratch, and hated the cheap looking silver, I went ahead and ordered the parts from the T4R. Only difference is that Tacoma's don't have the "Disp" button right side, below the Bluetooth controls. Doesn't bother me, long as the radio and BT features are still plug & play.

The part appears to be on B/O, and I have been waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive, so hopefully soon.

I just ordered a color-matched grille and couple of other small things from them. should arrive tomorrow. their prices are pretty sweet. local dealer quoted me $367 for the color matched grille. got it from them for $183.

Oh. I didn't realize it comes with the switches already, so you won't have a hole where "DISP" button is. Thats pretty cool. And the finish is glossy piano black, right?

Can probably sell your silver set for $200+ to recover some costs too

Plasti-dip or line-x would be the best solution.

Sorry, but I wouldn't use either of those. If I was to paint those pieces black, I'd use regular old spray primer and paint.

Personally, I don't get the appeal of Plasti-dip, unless you are painting something that you know you want to "undo" at some point in the future.

As for line-x, or any similar spray on liner, not sure why you would want the thickness and texture of that stuff on an interior trim piece. Maybe to make it harder to clean?

The black is more expensive than the silver and dunno why?

Probably because everyone hates the silver trim. I can't stand it, almost every new vehicle built today has this horrible, cheap silver painted trim on all the touch surfaces.

It was impossible to not scratch, or damage all the silver trim in my '13 Ford F-150 FX4. Just give me an all black interior, with gray or black cloth seats and I'm a happy camper.

I don't think I could get squat for it, unless someone wants to upgrade from having no steering wheel controls, to having them. Dealer lot guy, put a scratch on my wheel, and it's right in my line of sight, where I see it constantly. Only reason I bothered to swap, the fact I found the black 4R version, was just a bonus, since I hated the silver trim since bringing the truck hoe new from the lot.

You'd be surprised, some people really want those controls that have retrofit to a newer nav radio. You could probably sell it.

I love Chrome! Just bought a new chrome grill insert. Never understood why some people want everything dull black... oh well to each his own.

Appears the flat black steering wheel controls (instead of the shiny black) is available on the 2015 models.
