Im looking to lift my 2011 prerunner 2.7L double cab. I'm going with a 6" BDS kit and I want to put 35s on it with a 20x12 rim. The dude at the shop says that the 35s will rub like hell, and to go with a 33. Need your advice and reasons why a 35 will rub. (I'm not trimming anything)

What are you going to do for your gears? 2.7 DCSB and 6" lift sound like a nightmare

Are you going to wheel it or cruise the Walmart parking lot?

Well considering its 2WD I wouldn't necessarily do too much wheeling. Maybe some trails but not too much. I'm considering a re gear ONLY if I get the 35s but I need to know if they'll fit without any trimming.

With an aftermarket locker you could wheel all you wanted to, just saying.

As for WHY it will rub, I assume just the wheel well is too small. 33s will affect your engine load and mileage a lot less than 35 as well. Pretty much gonna have to trim.

It will rub on the street also but 35's are possible with minor trimming. The issue is when the wheels are turned completely either way & you hit a bump. The tire moves upward and will touch the lower, back corners of the fenders. The front mud flaps will have to be removed & plastic will need to be cut. Here is a pic of my lower fender....

So will I just have to trim the black fabric/plastic shit inside the wheel well?

Probably not.....mainly just the bottom corner of the outer color matched fender. I'm running wheel spacers on mine which made the body rub worse. But it was the only solution for me to run 16" wheels with a drop bracket 6" lift.

......and if you're not doing major off roading (suspension flex), even less trimming is necessary.

You could always save some money and do a MaxTrac spindle lift

This BDS kit is running me $2500 with install. How much more for the MaxTrac?

so I could run 35 in tire with a 20s12 rim and do some trimming on the inside of the color matched lower fender? that'll prevent it from rubbing at full turn??

You probably don't want to run 35s with a 4 cylinder. It won't be fun.
