I've had a couple of longer commutes for past jobs, and swore i'd never do it again.

love driving......hate commuting

I would prefer a short commute to work, but refineries are like millitary bases: they aren't usually located in the best part of town.

 

yeah, that's definitely a good reason for a commute.
luckily we get into areas before there are towns, build the chemical/power plant, and then get out before the town is built.

 

I'm so happy today is the last day if my internship. It takes me 80 minutes to drive the 20 miles home.

That's terrible. had a commute like that into DC for an internship i worked for a couple years. 16 mile drive. if i left real early, it was a 35 minute commute. leave a half hour later, and it's a 2 hour commute. accident on the side of the road? 3+ hours

 

I hate 290 and I hate the west loop.

 

Mine at 55 mph is 2 grand. 70 is about 2 and half

 

Mines about 5-1/2 to 6 hours

 

That's why I don't fly for the airlines anymore. I would have to leave the day before work started, go to the airport (they suck ass) and then spend an entire day trying to commute. There were several times I would spend 48 hours trying to get to work.

 

Yep. In the morning it takes me 25 minutes if I leave at 6am. It doesn't matter what time I leave in the afternoon. I'm still screwed.

 

how does that work? are you regeared, or is that in 4th gear instead of 5th?

 

I have 4 miles to commute. Once it cools down a bit, I'll start cycling into work again.

 

Nice! i did that to my first job in high school, and sometimes to my job in florida. granted, they were both bike shops

 

I'm just fortunate enough that my job has showers, and I can keep my bike in the office.

 

that's the way to go. shop i worked at in florida was right on the beach, so if the surf was good, i'd ride to the shop early, surf with one of the boards there, shower off with the hose, and then work all day lol.
