I have been looking and looking for "true" bolt on rock sliders for the standard cab 2014 Tacoma's with little luck.

Avid Offroad offers them but they aren't "true" sliders according to their website: "The bolt-on slider/steps are an alternative to the step bars. They are designed more for the people that like the looks of sliders but don't need the super strength of weld ons. We understand that some people don't want to weld to their frame or drill a bunch of holes in it to get strength that they don't need. There is no drilling or welding required to install our bolt on version. They simply bolt into the factory running board mounts. Because of the mounting location, these sliders are not intended to support the weight of the truck but can be used as steps, dent protection, and light off-roading."

4x Innovations offers ones but they require drilling out the chassis, again not true bolt on.

Famous Fabrication does offer true bolt on sliders for the standard cab trucks that bolt through the existing chassis holes. But $430 before shipped and in raw steel is a bit steep. This is the only guy I found that offers a bolt on style in the factory holes.

Long story short, I bought a standard cab Tacoma and want rock sliders that grab the factory chassis holes and to be just as strong as welded on sliders. I decided to design my own set, form the steel, weld the tubing, then either powder coat or spray paint with the bedliner stuff. I haven't made them yet, ordered all my steel and am waiting for it to get here so I can finish it. The pic shown is just my 3D CAD model, once done and on truck I can post more pictures.

I'm offering to make more and figured I'd throw this up for others who may be interested in a set.

    Material as follows:
Round Tube: 1-3/4" OD, .120" Wall HREW*
Square Tube: 2", 1/8" Thk HREW*
All Plates and Gussets: 7 Ga. HRS**
Hardware: 3/8-16 Grade 8 Zinc Plated

EDIT: To satisfy everyones concerns, sliders aren't for sale until field tested. I am going to get them 100% done and up to Rausch Creek, then beat the living hell out of them. Will report once done trying my hardest to break them. Going to get the DCSB set done as well and both my friend and I will go so he can try to destroy his too.

Cool. I see you're in RI, rough shipping estimate would be about $125 but I will get a better price for you when you're ready to buy and PM your actual street address.

Post some pics when you get them mounted. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing as you, but the price you posted is about what I estimated to do it myself.

Sliders are a slow and steady design. I've made a couple different designs and have finally finished the strongest way. Should have some pics of a set soon installed on my truck.

They look good. I'd just be worried about how far the one end is from any support. There's a lot of space for leverage to work its magic.

I understand and unfortunately there is nothing we can do to remedy that. It's a HUGE fulcrum point. I've run so many different calcs to test strength, deformation, failure load, etc. We've changed the design to use 2x3 heavy wall tubing instead of 2x2. This alone helped treamoundously. More updates soon.

Here is the final design. I formed all my sheet metal yesterday and picked up my tubing this morning. Tacking it all together this weekend and will post a pic on the truck. Won't be fully welded or powder coated but at least you'll see all the details.

Not sure what that extra box thing is for toward the back. It may interfere with the installation of aftermarket skid plates that people are running.

By the way, SOS Concepts has a complete bolt-on design as well.

I'm running 4xinnovation bolt on's, 2012 DCSB. Trying to remember how many holes needed drilled, think it was only 2 per side that needed drilling. Rest of the hole where already there. Love my sliders, Adam builds some nice stuff.

The extra box thing is going to be toward the back. It encapsulates the chassis for more strength. It shouldn't interefere with anything once installed. Once I have the set done I will take pictures installed.

I've seen there and although they do bolt on using existing factory holes, they won't be as strong as our set once done. I haven't found a set yet that completely wraps the chassis for full strength. Their sliders are very nice though and whoever they have welding is a damn artist. Props to SOS.

They do good work from what I can see. I am making a set that requires ABSOLUTELY no drilling and will be as strong as weld on. I got my passenger side all tacked together the other night. Need it to stop snowing so I can do final fitment under the truck.

I have, and again a really nice set and from what I've read a top notch vendor. But same thing, to get full weld on strength with bolt on set it looks like you still have to do some minor drilling in the chassis.

I hope to get my set installed in the next day or two, then throw up some pics. I want everyone to critic them and tell me what they like/don't like.
