The ax-15 wasn't too bad. Its the same 5spd that is in the v6 tacos as well. I has some respect for the np231 tcase as well, mine cracked almost in half (long story) and i drove it without fluid for almost a year and it still worked.

People like to bash jeeps because for 2k they can get long arms and 4" lift so they can fit 37s, but for the same price a taco can only fit 33s easily.

A wrangler is the only jeep I'd buy though, and one might replace my truck...

    What kind of noises ??..

Mine lasted 160k, the A340F is a fussy transmission, it's fairly strong & can last if you're meticulous with the required maintenance (like fluid/filter change every 35k ) get neglectful & its a time bomb & a $$$$$ at that, i got quotes up to $3400 for a rebuild...

I've had automatics in the past that I never so much as pulled the stick to check the level & drove the hell out of them for years without issue, these are just different...

I had no love for the AX-15. Went through 3 shifter knobs due to cracking. Told me that the transmission was heating up too much. Parts department at the dealership told me it was a known issue and I should just get a aftermarket billet one.

Then there were the top two bell-housing bolts that were not hex-head. Turned a clutch job into a nightmare, having to drill out grade-8 torx head bolts that were rounded off by a 12 pt socket, in a tight space...

Less the MT's fault but still.

I'm not big on chain driven transfer cases but expensive to get away from them these days. Stretched the chain on the NP231 to the point it was slapping the case.

Never had any problems with that 4.0 though. :)

I really want glass headlamps...but don't want to do a full 4runner front clip conversion. So sick of replacing hazed plastic ones....

Haha I think it's a play on the old Kaiser m715 or whatever military truck. New Kaiser -> nukizer.

I'd rock the shit out of one, I'm not blinded by Toyota haha

Do you have a diff drop? If so how did you space the skids down, I've got the same setup and my diff bolts rubbed and made terrible noises when turning

My old radio in my truck decided to die, so I mowed my best friend's yard and gave him some parts for a lawn mower from one of the ones I picked up as scrap metal, and he gave me one of his old radios.

We would like that but 99.9% of people buying tacomas will never modify it and will never take it off paved roads. IFS wins the masses.

A lot of people by Wranglers because they want a SFA, soft top with great offroad ability. Notice how Chrysler doesn't offer any other SFA vehicles in their Jeep lineup except for the JK...they're sticking to their roots even if it means it would lose some customers.

A lot of people buy Tacomas because they could use a bed and it's nice inside. They don't give two shits about what kind of suspension it has...and thats why there wont be a SFA Tacoma offered from the factory.
