Nice! That 400 is what I use for most of my bird photos, except the Ecuador ones. Excellent lens, and I'm super jealous of the case!

Yea I spied on your photos for a while before deciding on the 400. Really like the size and handle-ability. Like the other L lenses ive shot I love how little post process is needed.

Definitely. After shooting with a 70-300mm non L-glass lens for all of Ecuador I'm really wishing I had the 400 'cause it's so easy!

Get a couple of good locks for it. You would not believe how easy it is to break into the TSA approved locks.

On the 4000 mile road trip my wife and I just finished, I got to stop by the Grand Canyon for the first time; words can't describe it and pictures don't do it justice. However, felt like taking a huge pano...so I did.

    30 image pano, 10x3.

A couple artifacts from lazy picture taking, but decent for the most part. Only lens I took with me on the trip was my 50mm prime. It's what I carry 90% of the time on camera.

    Taken with the trusty 20d.

    pretty good example of skill>gear.

Tupper - is there a composite of this before you performed your post processing? I'd like to try my hand at it.

No composite, but I have all the RAW images. I edited the RAWs before stitching, etc.

If you'd like all the RAW images, I can hook you up with them, but it will be a sizable chuck of real-estate. :)

did you have all of your settings on manual? I think you would have more consistency with colors, and exposure if you processed after stitching (provided your camera had the same setting for all of those shots)

All images captured with the same settings (have to check metadata for exacts).

I edited raw data on a few key frames finding settings I liked and applied those changes en masse to all the images in LR....thereby, all edits consistent. Then stitched.

Used PS for the stitching and filling/cropping of blank areas.

Shoot me your e-mail and I'd be happy to send you an unedited version of the assembled pano (scaled down for file size reasons, of course) for your editing pleasure.
