ok cool. im not too familiar with back ways to each trail. i do however know the trails. so...... can we make it to a camp site around wheeler the night before, after running swan and radical hill? same for hc, after wheeler can we wheel to the next campsite that day near hc?

ok. so i think we need to focus on camping spots... thatll determine how we navigate via trails or roads to the next leg of the trip. working backwards, imo we need to camp near HC sat night. being a weekend, we need to try to be the first group on the trail.
so backwards from that, means we need to go from swan river trail system, to wheeler lake, to somewhere near HC and set up camp saturday.

^this is the part we need to figure out... are we gonna have time after wheeler to hit mosquito up and over? or should we go grab a beer somewhere on the road on the way to hc?
friday i feel like we are all in agreement is redcone>radical hill> swan river.

Mark when are u gonna be rolling into the mtns here? friday morning or thursday night?

I agree mr jace. I was working backwards when I was figuring it out to. I would love to hit as many trails as possible but I dont want to be rushed either to get a trail done. So im all up for beers saturday night :D

if the plan works ill get into town thursday afternoon. im planning on leaving thursday night and making it as far as comftorably possible and then sleeping and finishing in the morning. If a chunk of us are rolling out thursday afternoon I need to find a spot to meet and more importantly a spot to leave tires.

After HC is everyone planning a straight drive back to denver area? How far is that? If thats the case I would like to find a kind person willing to let me crach there before the drive back monday morning:D

So if we take i70 over to HC from wheeler, we will pass through Vail & Minturn. Plenty of places to drink in Vail and a few Saloons in Minturn (its a very small town).

If we take Mosquito pass over to HC right after Wheeler, there's Leadville which also has a few pretty sweet old Saloons to hit up. Lots of old Mining sites to explore around here too.

Or we could stop in Breck after wheeler and grab some food and beers then head over Mosquito pass to camp somewhere closer to HC. Not sure if that's a good idea or not .

I will go with the flow, so whatever is decided by the group is good for me.

Just putting info out there for Mark to make a good boozing decision. :D

From the end of Wheeler, wouldn't going over Mosquito be damn near the quickest way to Leadville?

Really it's going to depend on when Wheeler gets finished. I say it is best to be closer to the next camp then anything. Bars are bars and we would still need to drive back to camp so you really cannot get shit faced anyways.

I still don't understand Thursday. Are we running Red Cone in the evening or camping in Hall Valley and running Red Cone/Radical first thing Friday morning?

If the weather is good running Red Cone in the evening to dark would be a kick in the ass. That high up and nothing but darkness would make me pucker.
