    The same as grocery stores and Walmarts. More bang for their buck to make the customer do all the work. It actually costs the customer more because they can't do it as fast and you have to calculate your time into checking out.

    What an axe. It splits? Try the crappy maul some day, comes with familiar crappy fiberglass handle and crappy steel. Also splits. Maybe even better. Really though I'm okay with you liking that axe.
    I don't go to Home Depot for an axe, but a friend has that axe and it cuts like a pipe and the edge is garbage, and I'd never buy a hand tool without a wood handle.
