OP didn't have anything but basic..so his truck damage isn't covered on his own.

Wow that's a heck of a hit and run!! I suppose if he couldnt afford to pay insurance then sueing him likely won't do much. Does your insurance cover uninsured motorists?

Sad day for that Taco! See how much the insurance check is going to be first then talk to a lawyer. Depending on the laws in CT it might not be worth your time trying to sue. Just depends on the state if his insurance was expired.

Maybe not right now but in the future..judgments in small claims, at least here in MA, are good for 20 years.

Doesn't do the OP a lot of good short term of course but it's something.

Take photos and call around to your local wrecking yards to see what they will buy it for. A junk yard in WA would pay pretty well for that truck, dont know about your state. You will be wasting your time trying to sell it on CL.

Best bet would be to give it to local Copart or IAA auction. You will be surprised how much it will go for. And since insurance hasn't totaled it, it'll always be a clean title truck which makes for a better selling point at auction. Those auctions have reserves so you dont have to sell if you dont want to. Call them and ask.

Also, like others have said. Sue him.
