I just heard this on a local radio show... VT has played a top-5 team 24 times since Beamer has been head coach. Their record so far is 1-23.

I hope our players didn't hear the same stat.

Nobody's on here talking about the first real game of the college football season? It wasn't pretty, but the SEC pulled it out. I hope we do the same against the Hokies on Saturday.

'bout to watch the Blue-Turf bowl. I want Oregon to win just to spite Boise State and that stupid-ass field.

EDIT: I just saw the stupid-ass wings on the Oregon shoulders... I don't know if I can pull for them.

Which is worse, the blue field or the wings? I think it's a toss-up. That being said, I'm pulling for Boise St.

So I'm pulling for Boise St. and their smurf-turf, but I don't understand why they have to have ALL blue jerseys, too. I mean, are they tryin to be camouflage? There other colors are orange and white. Orange would be a little out there, and white is the away color, but Orange would be better than the ALL BLUE. Orange pants, blue jersey? Orange jersey, blue pants? It's just too much blue for me.

OU won't have Gresham Saturday; Big deal or not?

I hope yall watched the end of the Boise game. If not thats all that will be on the talk shows tomorrow. Blount sucker punched the bronco QB after the game then went fucking nuts. The cops were draging him away and he was still acting like an ass. I will be suprised if we ever see him play college football again.

wow just fucking wow. Yall have got to see this.

    Best description I found.
    http://blog.taragana.com/sports/200...e-pushes-around-oregon-in-19-8-victory-25501/
But the lasting image from this highly anticipated kickoff to the 2009 college football season will be Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount punching Boise State’s Byron Hout after the final whistle and then needing to be restrained from fans by police on the field.
As the Broncos began celebrating on their famous blue turf, Hout yelled in Blount’s face and tapped him on the shoulder pad. That drew an immediate scream from Boise State head coach Chris Petersen, but before Petersen could pull Hout away, Blount landed a right hand to the defensive end’s jaw.
Then as Blount was being pulled off the field, he had to be restrained from fans heckling him on the way to the Oregon locker room.
“You know, just emotions getting the best of players, and you know, it was a hard fought game, really proud of our defense,” Petersen said. “Typical first game, lot of sloppy football, but I thought our defense rose to the occasion and played great.”
Blount set a Ducks record with 17 rushing touchdowns last season.

There's no place for that in college football. The Boise State coach took it a LOT better than I would have.

small correction, he punched a LB. he talked shit before the game, they got their asses handed to them, then he acts like thug. a disgusting display, imo.
in all honestly, i hope the coach kicks him off the team. he was fighting with his own teamates, police officers, coaches, and workers. there is no place for that kind of behavior on any college football field.

I don't know if you're responding to me or not, but I meant that the coach, when asked about it, didn't fly off the handle the way I would have.

it just means he is a professional. keeping a calm demeanor in the midst of shit-storm shows that he is a leader (and a good coach) and can keep his emotions separate from his actions. if he had gotten emotional and flew off the handle, he would've only been slightly better than that RB.
btw, i would've flown off the handle as well.

Oh yeah I almost forgot 1 day till kickoff.

One of the coolest traditions at Texas. They light the tower after every win. BUt they only light up the #1 for national titles. And they do it for every sport.

I didn't know about that tradition. It's really awesome.

For other victories do they just light up all of the lights, or are you saying they shine the lights on the tower after each win?
