I own a 2014 Tacoma double cab and I recently upgraded the radio and speakers and added a woofer.

    I had the following installed:
    Kenwood DNN991HD head unit

    1 Question:
They installed the steering wheel control interface PAC (SWI-RC) which does not allow my left, right and center scroll work or my hold buttons. I have read a few threads that people are using axxess metra aswc-1 universal steering wheel. Does the metra allow all the steering buttons to work?

    2 Question:
They installed an rca to the factory backup camera wires but it would not display on my screen. It would only switch the screen to the reverse mode but just stay black. Do they make a harness or something to allow the factory camera work with my Kenwood HU?

The installer suggested I replace the camera with a boyo camera but I rather not go that route until I'm out of options.

    Thank for any advice!

You paid someone to fail at a stereo install? F that noise. Did you get a quote in writing? Can you get a chargeback on your card for services not delivered?

Hadn't heard that about the PAC unit. Pretty sure the shop did something wrong but call PAC and ask them about it. They should know.

If the shop did it wrong, take it back and have them fix it.

steering wheel controls probably won't ever work 100%, welcome to aftermarket bandaids.

i think the stock backup camera is not powered all the time. check one of the other threads about having it on all the time. it could be that the Kenwood is not sending power to turn it on.

you paid for unskilled labor to install your radio. a real audio shop with good installers would have known or let you know what worked after install.

I recently had a steering wheel harness issue with my 2014, installers had to add a resistor to the harness( metra) to make it work. As far as a camera goes, I had to buy an aftermarket ( from camera source ) camera to make it work with my pioneer head unit.

I would call metra and ask. I checked their website and it doesn't sound like it supports your model, but I would double check with a real person so you can confirm with all the details.

I believed they tried that but It only gets the screen to switch on reverse and gets no video, just a solid black screen. I been searching like hell for someone who has got this done before I opt for an aftermarket camera.
