no mooses :pout: well, not really but not my usual "crowd". One of my spots that I'm guaranteed to see moose was flooded out this spring and I don't think they came back when the waters receded :( This was the area that I've been following 3 boys and 2 girls for the past 4 years...and now two trips and I haven't seen them. I hope they're OK wherever they ended up, I just wish I could see them to know they're alright...:( Silly, I know, but I feel like I lost touch with a friend now.
I did see two cows and one calf and one bull...well just the antlers but I'm pretty sure there was a moose attached to them
But I hiked and met some nice people...I always seem to run into the first time visitors who haven't seen any animals so I end up chatting with them and telling them where the "good" spots are. Folks are always grateful for the info.

Did you get to do anything fun this weekend?

 I know, right? I bet, if he's married, his wife is PISSED!

So I'm in a restaurant in New Hampshire on Friday evening. When we finish eating, we head out to the truck and I hear my son saying "deer, deer, deer". I look up and see some shadows moving in the woods behind the place and really don't think much about it. Then he says "did you see it, it was a bear". He was saying bear and I thought he was saying deer. Still have not seen a bear in the wild, that was the second one I missed seeing. Jodi saw one on the side of the highway a few years back and I was driving and couldn't look.:(

    Hiya everybody.

Susan, you never saw a bear in the wild? How many years were you up here?

Finally got the grass mowed. Ranger is back together, but throwing a stupid "temp/barometric pressure" sensor code. New $90 sensor didn't clear it, gonna have to buy the $90 replacement wire harness apparently. :frusty: Polaris is mighty proud of their parts.

    Hope all are well.

Someday, I'll ask you about the timing. You seem to run into crowds there in the popular spots. I really hate crowds. We spent the weekend in North Conway, New Hampshire. Beautiful part of the country, but bumper to bumper traffic. I hadn't been there in about 20 years because it had become to touristy. It's way worse now, they even have a Wallmart on the main drag.

I just hope they're safe where ever they are - in the park and not outside of the park where they could be hunted. They're too used to people just standing and watching them, would be too easy for a hunter to get them. :(
Sorry your weekend was just work and chores. Things should be cooling down there soon right? Then you can get out and do more
And how can you live in AK and not see a bear?!?!

Well maybe you just need to stop breaking things...
I don't like crowds either but I love the park too much to not go. Spring and fall can be nice and not crowded - April and September/October. But the weather is pretty unpredictable then so a lot of people don't come, plus kids are back in school so family vacations are over. I think October is my favorite time - no crowds or traffic, the animals are really active and a little snow covering the mountains makes the scenery even better.
This was closing day (first weekend of November) a few years ago at Old Faithful :tumbleweed: It had snowed like an inch and the park was deserted! I parked in the first row, first spot just because I knew I'd never get the chance to again. Last weekend when I was down there I had to park way back against that tree line in the background and even then I had to wait for the spot! And there's probably 700 or 800 parking spots in that lot!
