I'm wondering that as well. I'm getting ready to put in the F67 pack and am debating between 16" or 18" shocks.

I really want to come but this year is really tight for time.

    Because I can :D
And to get 1:1 stroke to travel.

Theres no real reason. They're bigger than most other peoples. I can say I have 18" stroke. It amuses me when people tell me i dont need them.
I tilted them back too which most other people dont do
Edit: this probably makes me sound like a dick, but I just like to be different

I'm running 18's with my DMZ kit on my 2nd gen. The kit cycles about 16" of travel but with trying to keep my toolbox I couldn't quite get 16's to work. In fact uses up most of the 18" stroke as well so I have less than a 1:1 ratio. I would imagine that having a lower ratio would imply that the shock wouldn't have to work as hard to dampen your movement and would heat up slower, but mine still got almost too hot to touch last trip out to the dunes and I don't even have LT up front. haha

I also have 18's at 1:1. It really works well, and the best part is the shocks don't get hot and seem to last forever. Mine are 3.0's too...which means more oil volume. It just cuts down on maintenance. The bad thing is it fucks your bed space and you end up welding all kinds of shit to it to fit your junk back there. :D

Crammed full of tools, jumper cables, and recovery gear. I'll weld hasps to them and get locks at some point. Or not, I don't live in Barstow anymore.

Maybe. I've got two lovely rust spots starting to come through in the bed by the wheel wells. Though it seems most of these cages wouldn't require cutting out that spot.

Sounds good to me haha

I am running the same DMZ rear as you and pulling the same 16" with a 14" bypass  gotta love everybody's take on suspension. There are so many ways to accomplish the same thing

Are you cycling 18" bumped and strapped? Those 3.0s would be silly if you're not using the full stroke of the bypass and missing compression zones. More shock oil isn't worth shiet if you aren't pushing all of it around in a bypass.

You're on 37" tires too right? :jellydance:

I am strapped at 18" and use almost every bit of stroke. I miss almost an inch at full bump because the springs flatten out and move the axle back quite a bit, but that's what the bumps are for. Of course, I don't get full extension either, and lose 3/4" or so there. I suppose with strap stretch it's less. I am on 37's that weigh a ton, and have a beefy Diamond axle so the unsprung weight is pretty high compared to most of you.

Heres mine, kind of a simple-rush job since its my daily. I still wanna rework it, remove the crossbrace, add a spare mount etc. My main things were to maximize bed space and utility factor, and a low profile. I can still fit a dirtbike, mtn bikes, camping gear, 8' dinghy etc with it, and the tailgate remains functional too.

From the side and rear there's no sign of all of this, it's all tucked well below the bed line. And it mobs :mudding:
