with the setup i'm going to have. i can fly longer, but payload and handling is reduced. the smaller phantom will only hover for abotu 15 minutes, or actively fly for 8-12 depending on how agressive you are.

cost per minute of flight time goes up exponentially at this level of multirotor when you get much above 10-15 minutes of flight.

The PreRunner bloodline will be a little less pure. I can't make it out this weekend. Gotta set-up the new deer lease camp out near Del Rio.

    *****, please.

Oh! I retract my statement. When you said each battery is $100 bucks and lasts ten minutes... I didn't realize one charge lasted ten minutes. Makes much more sense now.

So everyone is going and then the week before no one is going?! Me and Jon are gonna have to show the 4x4s up ourselves.
Bummer man, wish you could come. Have fun at the deer lease!

oh god haha. i definitely wouldn't partake in this hobby if it cost $10 a minute to fly one.

That's what I'm saying! Sweet hobby though, props to you.
I don't even have it purchased  That is a long way down the road.

Are there advantages of an e-locker over air locker? Yes, I could search... But I want to hear your opinion since you own one.

I own both. Air locker is 2 buttons and you are locked, e-locker sometimes doesn't want to engage, if you are on an incline or off camber you gotta move the steering wheel back and forth and put in neutral to drive to reverse or a combination of the 3, or sometimes it just comes on. The e-locker comes factory, the air lockers are about $1k per axle PLUS the compressor, plus the wiring and plumbing, PLUS it pukes your diff oil out. I change my axle oil once a year now just because of that, and both diffs are always low.

That sounds like a lot of room for the e-locker to not be dependable in a situation. And I forgot about the factory ones, but I was meaning Jons. His is aftermarket, right?
So how does it eat up your diff oil? I don't mind changing it. Although last time I tried, I couldn't even budge it... But that was just with a wrench.

E-locker in the back and manual up front?

Jon's is OEM, his came with an e-locked rear end. It doesn't eat the oil per say, it just pukes up an ounce or so once in a while. If you don't mind the extra maintenance and higher cost go arb front and rear, when you hit the button there is no question whether or not it's locked.

What do you mean pukes it up..? Just leaks it? I wouldn't mind changing it with every oil change if I had to. Not a problem while I'm down there anyway.

And as for a 2k+ investment that would be a few years

You have an air line going in to the diff & best way I know how to explain it is put a straw in a cup of water and blow on it a little, you see the water rise then when you stop it lowers again and the water goes in to the straw. I'm not even sure if this is right, it's just what I read. It would only be $1,300 or so for you since you have a prerunner.

Right. Well good enough explanation for me. Thanks for the info. I'd like to get a locker one day but I would need to offroad often enough to use it... And I have H/Ts

I haven't had any trouble with my e-locker.

Becky has ARB's and we've had trouble with puking oil, at 13degree tempatures the locker quit working, solenoids have a reputation of going out.

Let me just go back in time and buy a different one! Next one will be 4x4 for sure

What were you doing in 13 degree weather? And is the oil a big deal or can she just change hers more often like Large talked about?

Wheeling has no degree limits. Could be 0, could be 110 depending on where you are. You don't have to change it, you could just add oil.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
And if you add enough oil, it's like you're slowly changing it.
