    I used to use my dads chevy 1500 4X4 to go off roading and i recently bought my own 1999 toyota tacoma 2.4l. 4cyl. 2WD stock lift. Now for my question do you guys think getting this lifted im posting in this thread and getting new 15in rims and putting bfgs on it is worth it please be honest i know its a small truck can it handle all this? ohh and i have the money to do all this stuff also so im just waiting to get some good advice

    4.56 gears, rear trutrac,DT header, 235/85r16 Duratracs, 2nd filter pulled, inter.wipers, Cruise control, Factory alum. whls/winter tires(2nd set), Afe pro Dry-S , Dumbo eared flaps cut down.
    I would say yes. Its small size is its asset. A comparable 4wd is around 400 lb heavier.
    Since my school days in the 80s I have seen some toyotas w/o 4wd lifed. They all ran a locker b.t.w. REMEMBER, both vehicles have different characteristics, use momentum to keep moving, make sure to air down for traction too. Regear and add a locker at some point though, no locker is the deal killer for a 2wd off road i.m.o.

    Yea, wait to reagear, see if you like it. But if you go from, say, a 215/75 r15, to a 245/75 r16 ... or higher, strong odds you might want to regear.
