Yeah lots of bear signs - and they are up there but I've only ever seen one. Every year there is at least one incident with a hunter and a bear. Just gotta be careful...
I've never heard coyotes up there but this past 4th of July I did have a herd of elk move through after dark and the girls were all barking, trying to keep track of the calves. Oh, and rocks falling off of black butte - creepy! You just hear what sounds like a distant gunshot as a boulder breaks free, then a "whoomp" and then the crash as the boulder hits the ground and shatters/rolls...definitely gets your attention

I usually try to camp near black butte. as long as its not windy it is an awesome place to be. Absolute dead silence at night and the stars  amazing...
Can't think of a trail that I haven't been on up there, its all pretty cool

    Yes.
From this past weekend in central Colorado. Nice camp site, rarely used, clean and even includes a place to sit. Eagle Lake was a nice hike.

    Grass is always greener, right?;)

GW National Forest is nice, though, and WV is beautiful. Where did you camp?

True that! The Gunpowder is one of my favorite fly fishing venues. Had many of stellar 12+ hour days on that stretch or water.

Up on the Rappidan (Graves Mountain). We usually go up past both bridges about 100 meters down from the gate leading to Hoover's Camp, but that spot was taken so we ended up down next to the second bridge if you're familiar with the area.
