    Well we only got about 1/4 mile from home when this happened. There was a vibration and noise but it only went on for a sec or two before the wheel fell off. Basically, I heard/felt something, started putting on the brakes right away but the wheel fell off before it came to a stop.

    The other three wheels didn't seem to be loosening up yet but it would have been just a matter of time. Everything was torqued properly.

    15 lb-ft of torque per lug, as much as his daughter could put into it, so that must have been torqued properly. She was drinking the POR with Will while putting the wheels back on last time.

    some of you may already know this but in a bad situation like that you can rob a lug nut from each other tire and then just use those to hold on the tire that fell off.

    ^^^ This was my next thought. The thing I was concerned about was that the other 3 wheels might be barely hanging on but in hindsight would have saved me an hour of waiting.

    ^^^ What better way to start an old boys adventure?

    Biggest bummer would have been if I couldn't meet with the rest of the group. Fortunately, we were back on the road by 10:30AM.

    Speaking about damage, I put a gnarly dent in my drivers door on the way off the mountain as I was going home :eek:

    OK I said this was a good weekend for me earlier, but we've just scheduled a Yosemite trip with my folks on that week. Dad's 80 years old and always wanted to visit Yosemite. I'll have to bow out of this one :(

    You don't need a lift to run the trail but is nice for piece of mind.

    If you want to drive to my place, I have all the tools available except spring compressor, and that is easily "rented" from autozone. I also have the experience putting a lift on a second gen.

    I've actually used them a couple of times and only this time was it a bad experience. Guess it's a roll of the dice. :(



    Thanks! Luckily I was only going about 25 mph but it was downhill. I'd hate to be some guy driving around the corner and get hit by a M/T missile.
