Are the TRD filters that much better? What about a K&N oil filter?

Let's get some actual measurements here....

Post your part # with measurements.

    Part # 90915-YZZD3
    Height: 4"
    Diameter: 3"

I don't really remember what the original filter from the factory was that I removed - but it was probably 1" shorter than the D3 I'm using now.

The one I took off that the dealer put on reached the top of the plastic cowl cover that goes over the engine. (How's that for scientific) I took advantage of a special AA was running that includes 5qts of Mobil1 synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter. The Mobil 1 filter was shorter, too short for my liking. I put on a carquest filter that is actually a WIX 50516. The 50516 was the same size as the one I removed, wish I had the part number.

That white TRD one I posted a picture of is:

    Height: 5"
    Dia: 3.5"

And, another posted asked if the TRD filter is really better - I dunno if it is, I just bought it cuz I like the colors. LOL

And, another poster mentions how it hits the black plastic thing on top of engine - I agree, it slightly comes up to that thing and touches it, but no problem.

    Thanks

    Hi guys,
I'm ready for my first oil change and called Jim yesterday at American Toyota. He did some double checking to see if this filter would work on my 2.7 4-banger and Service Mgr was positive this filter would not work. I hope someone will prove him wrong. Any 2.7 liters using the 90915-20004 filter?
