You've got guts. First to attempt the paint job, then to shwo it on here. This is why I don't try this stuff myself. I am keenly aware of my skills. Painting is not one of them.

wow, and i thought the tsb was harsh !!

Its just a piece of plastic, the chrome finish is no longer a concern.
remove it from the truck, take your time and sand it down till you see the original color and chrome. after sanding rinse well with fresh water and let dry, like over night. If impatient use rubbing alchol to wipe clean. being plastic, primer really not needed. start by painting the hard to reach places first, light barely wet coats. then nice smooth coats on the easy outer places.
    two coats shoud be enough.
learn from the mistake and try again. the second chance is only some elbow grease and the cost of another can of paint.

If you are in a forum on the internet and ask “how did I do?” you should expect brutal honesty.

So the guy didn’t get it right the first time. All of our first paint jobs sucked. But now it’s fixing a fuck-up which even harder.

If it was me I would want that grill off my truck ASAP. So a grill off eBay would be in order, or a new grill from somewhere. Fixing this could take weeks to get it right, unless you don’t mind having a big hole in the front of your truck for a while.

Wasent trying to pile on the guy, but I think a section with DIY gone bad would be interesting. When I did the lift on my 05 I streched the abs wiring and had to replace both wiring harnesses, that sucked but those stories might help someone in the future.

And to the dude with the sense of humor. Thank god that you have the ability to crack jokes about something like that. Myself, who has a mother with the disease, lost the ability. One should never make a joke about someone else's misfortune. One never knows what life's big poker game will deal you next hand. You should be thankful you are healhty. There are millions who would LOVE to crack jokes like that but cannot due to some sort of debilitating disease that took that abilty away.

    Just something to think about.....

Okay, Okay, I think we should all lighten up a little bit. Jokes are jokes- You knock it off funny guy and you other guys stop being so sensitive.

I think the guy with the "challenged" grille gets the point- he did a half ass job (No offense ugly half ass grille guy). But I totally give you mad props for trying it, cause I opted out. PLEASE just read the DIY section, and follow it word for word!!! It will save you a LOT of heartache!!!

Not so much sensitive, but never was brought up to mock a person less fortunate than myself. So lack of tolerance would ne a better way to describe it.

Word, I always thought this was a forum for Tacoma help, and ideas.. Seems it's turning into every other discussion board. As said, the guy F-ed up. no need to point it out repeatitivley and try to be a intraweb funny guy. Ther are enough of those on other boards.
