Jason, I was able to get the spindle cap off so the swing out locks open on the bumper now. I also re-routed my camera to the bumper from the tailgate handle. The bumper is awesome but it shakes the whole truck over speed bumps. Im curious to see how that feels wheeling.

CBI bumper with a swing out for water, gass can, spare, and jack. Now my bed is empty again...

I'd you need to add frame plates to stiffen frame?

Im pretty sure its just the swingout tire holder flexing alittle but its felt though out the truck. If it starts to bother me ill looking into stiffining it up.

All I know is on the 1st gen it is recommended to add the reinforcement plates with that much weight out back.

    Bumper looks sweet!!
Ferny,no we didn't take any pics of the swap, it was early morn. so all business. We did help out a stranded family, that had flopped there suv on the hwy and slide for a few hundred ft. I let him use some tools to drain the oil out of his heads. It was amazing that none of his family got hurt. And that he new to pull the plugs and blow out the oil.
Shit with frame plates and the hi-clear custom tweak to that bumper its going to be one hell of a rig.The only thing left to do that thing will be sas.

Based on the research I just did frame plates are not required unless I plan on jumping it with the swing out loaded up

I think I'll be a little far from gold lake Labor Day , now that I know this thread exists it will make the planning easier for me though

Does the OP get updated with pending/upcoming trips?

Ya sorry bout that J, we kinda went with Gold Lake cause it's a pretty rad camp spot. Next time.

And this thread is useful. I generally use it to gather interest, then make a thread specific to the trip.

you guys are good people! Glad no one was hurt!

I try, but sometimes trips sneak by me and I end up posting them after the fact

    ;)

I wonder if there is a way to have multiple people be able to update a thread? That would be nice

Whoops! I guess the OP does get updated, sorry Ferny. I hadn't checked page one in quite some time. I try to use this thread whenever possible for getting a trip together...

    While we're on topic:

Gold Lakes Labor Day weekend trip:

    1. FFDawson
    2. Mademan925
    3. stroM
    4. ChocOtaco
    5. CMJ
    6. TacomaTSP4

Jump on in. I think so far the plan will be to bang out mid morning on Fri, head out to hwy 49 and go straight to Gold Lake 4x4 campground. I'm thinking it'll be in our best interest for whoever can get out there earliest to nail down a camp spot, given that it's Labor Day weekend.

Once we establish a site, we can do some wheeling, cruising, whatever.

I'll be camping 2 nights, heading home Sunday, and I'd like to take the Gold Lake trail up tomSierra Buttes trail, maybe go check out the fire lookout, then head down through Sierra City and home.

This is a family friendly trip. I'll have my Wife, daughter and our pup with me. I know at least 1 other person is bringing his son. Plan for some fun camping, fishing, maybe a good hike or two. And of course...WHEELING!

Depending on how many peeps roll, we could put on a Pot luck for sat Pm.
