Hey Steve I think Greg (gregero) has a stock intake setup mothballed in his garage, if you haven't found one yet I can check tomorrow...

the only time I had this exact problem was after I did my engine cage, there is a small module that needed to be grounded and it was mounted in a way that wasn't getting a good ground. I'll snap a picture of it when I get to the house, but I don't necessarily know if your having the same issue because of a cage.

9", currie axles, linked, 2.5 14" ADS coilovers and 4" bumps. Haven't touched the truck since january. Should start the cage next week then onto the front end to attack the steering/spindles.

It'll be for my kids kid at this point. Toying with the idea of finishing it, selling it, and but in a 4 door cab. Not sure if I want to go ford or chevy. Need a full sized cab though.

Just a fun drive all night in the desert, right? I have been driving off road since I was a teenager (1970's). My dad taught me well in his Jeep and dune buggy. Sand is the most challenging for most, but it is really all about tire air pressure and not spinning the tires when you stop moving from sand.

I am glad you could see how well a factory stock Tacoma can do... The 4WD TRD OFF ROAD will take you anywhere you need to go from the showroom floor. If driving faster than you need to off road, then sure, some suspension mods will allow that. Raising the truck too much will cause a load of other issues, as you know.

Your 'new' 2000 truck will be great for desert fun and going fast! See you when you are back here in San Marcos! (PS thunder and rain today... and they had briefly locked down the campus because of a reported gunman... news helicopter circling over head for awhile... all clear now!)

It sounds like it is something electrical if you aren't at least getting a partial start. Air or fuel problem I get a slight sputter. I hate these bugs when I get them and its usually something dumb. Ground wire like just mentioned. Or check the timing since you did mess with the distributor. If you consistently get that exact misfire concentrate on that cylinder. But it should start if only one cylinder is acting up.

The lockers for the street suck like in my Jeep, chirps everywhere and when any throttle is applied it fights to go straight. An ARB would be slick, but like you said the most expensive option. E-locker would be nice though! I like the new truck!

They do hold up as long as you keep the little 4cyl in them!

That would be the simplest swap for sure.

What codes? Maybe I can help ya figure it out.

    Fuel, spark, compression..

Did you pull the plugs and see if they all had fuel after trying to start? That would roughly cover FUEL.

Did you pull a plug and check for spark, Just pull the plug and ground electrode to the head and look for spark.

I would run a quick compression test as well just to make sure they are all at least close (normally 10%) in compression readings.

And make sure the gas isnt bad, the new fuel with ethanol breaks down super fast.

I am sure you probably checked most but maybe something will help??

Seemed like hail I thought too, had to jump out of bed to do a preemptive attack on flood control in the yard, it only has a 3" drain for the entire driveway and there are huge trees all over so it clogs.

The rain drops were just really big but not that cold, felt like small pebbles falling from the sky. Or thats how it was in Vista anyway.

Did every single one of those. Even tried jumping the EFI relay just in case that was it.... Nothing. It's an employee of mines truck. Pretty much did all I'm willing to do on it. He had it towed to a shop today. I'm willing to bed it's a wiring gremlin.

Sounds like a possible nightmare..those come around every once in a while.

Aaaanyway guys I am prepping bike for a big nationals race in Panaca Nevada, 100 miles of racing! I got 2nd place at the last nationals and just about got get a big sponsorship deal!!! Stoked.

Hoping for 1st place this time. That would really help the resume. I am racing my 2005 Yamaha in this one, probably the oldest bike on the line and people trip when they see me roll in top 5 every time on a clapped out lookin YZ250, haha!

Maybe I will get a decent sponsor deal and start racing one of the new husky 300 2 strokes! I think I could do even better with a new 2-stroke. Or maybe not, who knows, lol.
Wish me luck guys, and I got new GoPro for my Birthday, gonna get some video of this race so you guys can check it out! Hopefully it wont look like slow-mo like the last one did!!

Not even sure it applies but if injected with the usual ECM/ECU & has igniter if bank 1 can't get a signal to ECM you're not going anywhere I suspect, at least thats how mine was, took about a no bullshit month of troubleshooting/tracing to find 1 small brown wire on harness end of igniter had gotten loose, stripped a little insulation back shoved it back in & started up like it never happened I was elated & pissed at the same time...

But speaking of distributors I wonder if someone had pulled it out before & now its 180 out ??
