I posted this in the 2015, maybe I'll get a better answer here in the AC thread.

I'm actually not 100% on the auto but all 2.7s come with stock 4.10s. So are you complaining about the rpms being so low at those speeds? Cause I think that's badass!! I'm also used to my truck which I'm running 2900 at 70 and 3200 at 80 so your numbers sound like badass mpg. Haha

I'm not complaining. I thought it seemed unusually low for a 4 cylinder with 4 speed auto. I just wanted to get some feedback from TW members if those numbers are the same on pre2015 models.

I've got a 2012 with the 5 speed manual, so that's not exactly useful... In any case, I'm at about 2500-2550 RMP when the odometer is at 70 MPH.

Yeah that's with 4.10s. I wonder if the autos have 3.73 gears like the 4.0 has

According to Toyota's 2014 custom build page the following gears are in the automatic trans AC's.

    5-Lug 2.7L: 3.58
    Prerunner 2.7L: 3.58
    4X4 2.7L: 4.1
    Prerunner V6: 3.73
    4x4 V6: 3.73

Holy fuck that's high!!! No wonder it feels like there's no power. That thing has corvette gears in it. Haha

The truck I drove was a 4x4 2.7L, which is supposed to have 4.10 gears according the 2014 build sheets on toyota's website. However it drove like it was pulling a much taller gear, at 55mph in overdrive it was very noticeable with the engine running at 1600rpm.

What gets me is why would they put a 3.58 in the prerunner auto and 4.10 in the 4x4 auto when both use the same wheel size package? I wondering if there is error on the build sheets or maybe they've changed the rearend ratios for 2015 4x4s? There's another local dealer with 2014 AC 4x4 2.7l auto.I'm going to test drive it this weekend to see if it feels any different.

Man you got me. All I know is the numerous people I know that have this truck have 4.10s. My buddy with a 5lug auto has 3.58s (I asked) but everyone else has 4.10s. They may have changed it for mpgs? Seeing as the 4x4 is heavier and needs shorter gears? No fuckin clue

I assume you have 885 coils in the front. Here's mine, 884 and 265/75/16

I went the Dakar route. It squats about .5" with 200lb in the back.

I got a call from my dealer yesterday offering me $50 (they give you an Amex gift card or something) to come in and let them replace my front exhaust pipe. There is no recall, there is no "problem", the regional Toyota representative just wants periodically to take parts off cars and see how they are performing. They will replace the whole exhaust pipe with a new one. And they will let me see the old and the new. No funny stuff.

I told him I would call him back, I have to go for my 10k service anyway but I thought this was strange. Maybe it isn't. Anyone else? This just seems like a too-good-to-be-true situation as in...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
