Any straight edge guys or gals here?

I thought this stuff died out? Maybe just because I am not in the city anymore I don't see it. Explain this to me though... When I lived in Reno, groups of straight edge guys would wait outside bars, and beat the shit out of people coming out for being "unclean" or whatever. Of course they would wear their white bandanas to hide their faces. Is that really what you guys are about? I was waiting for a couple of them to get shot, but it never happened.

 

Maybe I've had the wrong idea of what straight edge is. When I first heard about straight edge it was an extreme group that abstained from alcohol, drugs, and tobacco, that are very outspoken and do extreme things in general. I've not really met anyone that is straight edge that has just been my perception.

 

Have been the first 21 years of my life and over the last 17 years of my life....there was that brief time in-between though that I was a wild child!

 

No Drugs, Nothing illegal for me.

I do enjoy me some beer and can't live without my snuff. Really need to quit dipping....again.

 

When I want to quit I eat a hell of a lot of sunflower seeds. It helps me some.

 

When I've heard "straight edged" its always been 2 groups, one was a religious or spiritual group that abstained from that stuff for those reasons. the other was the pricks that caused fights like your post and the one before it mentioned

 

There are extreme groups that did violent things and there are the others who don't it comes with the territory I've known both sides of it first hand

Drug free: Yep

Alcohol free: Obviously cause im underage

Tobacco free: Nope

 

Clean and sober for almost 2 years. Before that..... well you can read the thread in my sig. I wish it didn't have to be that way but it is the best change I've made in my life. I have nothing against anyone that likes to go out and have a good time. As long as you aren't effecting any one else then by all means enjoy yourself.

I am. I don't do drugs or smoke and haven't had a drink in almost 2 years. So u could say I'm straight edge I guess. Just no xxx tattoos anywhere.

That's actually "slut free" some cominde it with straight edge however it's not part of what straight edge started out as

 

Reno was pretty bad about straight edge gangs and violence I don't think it's even close to what it was there.
