    V6. All the way.

Had a used 4cyl DC.. And on cruise control at highway speed it felt like it would struggle constantly trying to get power. Hated it.

Lucky for me I was able to switch it and get the v6 instead. No regrets.

Agreed, these threads are dumb anyway. What's wrong with test driving and buying what you like or what you can afford.

i'm not saying it's not possible but when you work all day in the heat you would be much more likely to have a heat stroke without a/c to cool you off.

also the seat of your truck would be soaked through with sweat which is kindof gross. :D

Actually a/c makes people even more heat sensitive, because it narrows their comfort zone. When you're in a 72-76 degree a/c controlled environment and then leave it, your perception of heat is far more uncomfortable than if you are in an ambient environment all the time and had become acclimated to it...

...and I do work all day out in the heat, so I know. ;)

Excess sweating is from being used to a narrowly controlled environment and then leaving it for the ambient environment. When a person is acclimated, they'll never soak a car seat with their sweat because their body is already adjusted to the heat.

I learned this when I was in the Army and went to Vietnam. When I first stepped off the air conditioned plane, it was like being suffocated with a plastic bag over my head, and I was sweating like a pig. But after a few weeks I got acclimated to the heat and the humidity and it didn't bother me.

There are two basic directions people can travel... becoming a fragile wilting Orchid... or becoming a tough hardy weed. ;)

Like the V6... but you'd need a longer hood for sure.

should get better mpg. the reg cab weighs less than a DC or AC.

if you aren't sweating it means you are dehydrated. if you drink plenty of water you will sweat constantly in 100 degree heat like i did today. :D

well that is if you are doing any sort of work. if you are just standing still in the shade then maybe not.

i can go without heat. no a/c is a hard pill to swallow.

i can put on a jacket and gloves in the winter and drive with no heat in the truck and be fine even if it's 0 degrees. if it gets over 75 degrees the a/c gets turned on.

That all depends on how well acclimated you are to the heat. The more acclimated you are, the less you need to sweat because your body metabolism adjusts to the heat.

I understand. It's a real challenge to give up the comforts we are used to enjoying.

I'm the opposite... this time of year when I'm used to the heat, if it cools off at night below 75 degrees I have to put on a sweatshirt!

Anyone debating a 4 or 6 needs to test drive both and decide for themselves. There are opinions to the positive and negative for both directions. Personally, I loved the power in the 6 and loved the mileage with my last 4 cyl Tacoma. I opted for the mileage as I don't really have the need to go fast or haul heavy things with this truck. I'm super happy with the decision. It's a good 70 mph truck on the freeway. I'll drive my 911 if I want to speed. If you want speed and power and its important to you then get the 6 hands down
