Yeah, they only have about a million and a half to play with, so if the rangers want Thornton they will have to not only move some picks or prospects but salary as well. If I'm San Jose I'm asking for a real roster player who fills a clutch role when they desperately need it. I can't see Thornton being worth a high pick and a solid roster player like that with the way his numbers are trending. The rangers already have enough players that disappear at the wrong times and the addition of star power by subtraction of practicality will drag this team down. I guess looking at the past ten years the Rangers were famous for doing that (Jagr, Kovalev, etc.)

 

Zuccarrello and another player plus a pick/prospect. They will lose him next season anyways probably when he's UFA

Hate the Sharks but they were/are a good team and if they would have beaten LA, I (as well as many others) believed they could have gone all the way.

SJ better hope the players buy in to these management changes and new atmosphere otherwise it will be a quiet revolt ending with a losing season and big dismantle of players and coaches ..IOW: rebuild.

Nothing like a reverse sweep to shut down a rival and even better to watch the debacle again on NHL network this week.

I grew up with the guy. He's not a turd . He's a bit younger than I am but I even remember once taking shots from him when I played gym hockey with the kids in my high school after classes.

Seto's been streaky ever since junior. The draft guys never could place him. He had a good year, then a terrible year, and finally an amazing year before getting drafted. Suddenly he was San Jose's top ten pick which most people around here thought was surprising. In Calgary he will be near family and since the team is rebuilding they won't be asking an insane amount of production from him. He's a top 9 guy who can bring flashes of top 3 play.

This also gets him further away from Danny Heatley, who is one of his buddies but continues to teach him how to not be a consummate professional. The people I know who actually hang out with Devin when he's back around town say Heatley is a massive douchebag who keeps rubbing off on Devin.

 

He seemed to always come up big in SJ when they needed it, i was sad to see him go.
