I was under my truck about to measure for a new one piece rear drive shaft when I noticed one of the weights on my front driveshaft looked like it was loose. Sure enough it fell right off when I touched it. There are rust marks where it was, so I'm thinking I can just tack weld it back in place. The front driveshaft's balance shouldn't be too effected by a couple small tack welds, right?

Before I weld I think I'll just hose clamp it on since I don't feel like running the welder in the rain today.

Match up the location carefully, don't use more than couple good tacks, and you'll be OK

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
Kinda goes along with the weights that inevitably fall off of the rear brake drums.

Drill a hole in the center of the weight and then plug weld it back in place.

I would laugh if I saw zip ties, might as well use duct tape.

That is a great idea. However probably not necessary. I can't imagine a single weight creating too much vibes on the front driveshaft since it only spins when in 4wd. BUT if I was looking for the best fix, I think this would be it.

I believe the front drive shaft constantly spins on these trucks, not under load but free spinning. :notsure:

Sorry, you are mistaken. Maybe you are thinking of the cv axles, not the driveshaft.

Fell off my 97 run it probably another 100K never knew the difference. If you don't feel any difference with the hose clam on you sure won't with a missing weight.
