Interesting that you found a 1 piece for your truck. A lot of people have said it couldn't be made for a 2wd.

I know.. I called woods and a couple other big players and was informed "they" couldn't do it and didn't know of anybody who could. The 4" diameter was required for 71" and is ok for several more inches in length. I'll start a thread with all the details and Bob's contact info after I get it installed and take it for a spin.

Does your state have "lemon laws"?

Yes, but you must go through the arbitration process prior to filing an actual lemon law suit. The arbitrator found in favor of Toyota, stating the vibration is not a defect or manufacturing issue, it's a characteristic of the Tacoma, which was practically word for word what the representative from Toyota said at the hearing. :frusty:

So, I'm going to try one more thing to get ride of the high speed vibrations and we'll go from there.

As much as a fanboy that I am, I have to say it sucks that Toyota claims that vibration is a characteristic of the Tacoma. Almost sounds like they are proud because they specially designed it that way to make it special. Weird....

Yeah, when I made that statement I was kind of upset about more than just the whole Toyota thing, sorry. The representative from Toyota basically said all the auto manufacturers produce thousands of vehicles a year and they are not perfect, nobody made me buy the Tacoma. Everybody involved felt the vibration and determined it vibrated as much as another Tacoma on the lot and not as bad as third one that was on the lot. Seems like a number of people here are aware of vibration issues and prepared to spend the money to purchased replacement drive shafts immediately after a $30K+ purchase.. and the aftermarket manufactures market their products as the "cure for Tacoma drive line vibrations". That just doesn't seem right.

It is a Toyota and a truck, I never really expected my 2014 Tacoma to ride like a Cadillac. Based on my past experiences with Toyota vehicles I expected a fairly boring/reliable vehicle with a fair amount of engine/road noise and a reasonable price tag.

To be honest, it sounds like you're expecting a little much out of your truck.

That's pretty funny.. I've owned a few vehicles over the past 32+ years of driving, some new some used, even owned a few trucks. My Tacoma has significant driveline vibration, yours doesn't, super. Or maybe yours does and you accept it without question? I expected a quality vehicle that doesn't have issues that the manufacturer brushes off as a characteristic. And for $30k, I shouldn't have to spend hundreds of dollars and waste countless hours trying to resolve a problem Toyota has been aware of for years and chooses to do nothing about Thanks for your input.

Almost 2k, about 50% going back and forth to the dealer, tire place, suspension specialist and drive line specialist.

    Is your DC a 4x4?

I'm really tempted to go to another Toyota dealer and test drive a 2 wheel drive Access cab prerunner just to see if there are just bad batches of drive shafts? The other 2 Tacomas I drove after this all started were manufactured 12/2013. I just don't want to waste another dealers time and lie about the possible purchase of the truck.

We drove to the freeway entrance, drove one mile to the first exit, never got above 70 mph, not a big enough stretch and too much traffic. We took a frontage road on the way back, 30-40 mph. Plus the sales guy was making his pitch the entire time. We noticed the vibration on the way home and called the dealer the next morning.

Why did you end up trading in? And if you don't mind me asking, how bad of hit did you take on it? Thanks
