Infinity ref. 6 1/2 all around. OBX pedals and shifter. DTRL mod, Alt. turn signal mod, LED's in glove box and console, LED's under dash lip and back A/C vent,Weather Tech mats. Took off antenea for wind noise
    TICK tick TICK Best fixes.
#1 Dynamat: Hood and engine cover (inside) As well as any large flat
sheetmetal under the hood. I am not sure it will stick to the valve
covers due to heat. If it sticks you can make it look like fins if
have a heavy duty paper cutter. Undercoating in a few key areas.
Header wrap the exhaust pipes to cat
#2 Amsoil or lucas (try any additive) helped on my 2000 TRD. My Avalon is so quiet hard to tell when it is running and all I hear on the new truck is the fan.

No known cure for fuel injection tick other than #1

#2 Heat wrap: Exhaust manifold or even worse headers
    #3 Stereo: Crank it
    #4 Exhaust: Go louder

    Not enough
All my dash out for stereo stuff and wow.The thing sounds just like a diesel pusher!! (much louder).
Has to be some big improvement had with hood/dash etc damping..

    1. Anyone look in junk yard for fiber type from ford/chevy?
    2. Anyone try that spray damping stuff in a can?

Both dynamat and sprays will help but will not stick that well near heat. Whatever you use should adsorb and not reflect sound. My old truck had fiberglass with foil on the hood. What I did.... On the interior I pull all the plastic, stuff the gaps in sheet metal with polyfill (do not use fiberglass insulation in the cabin)....and dynamat for the speakers making the parts buzz and rattle. It is amazing how many places you will find. Pillars, floor, dash, roof, kick panels. The dynamat on the inside of door sheet metal, hood and inside wheelwells is very effective for all sound. The wheel wells amplify the sound quite a bit so spray outside and dynamat inside. This is why luxury cars are whisper quiet. There are knock offs out there and it may not do well in heat. Dynamat can be layered. Tap on a area you suspect is amplifing the sound before and after doing this....... Amazing.

After installing my DTLT's the tick is LOOOOOUUUUDDD!!!!!!! Amplified the s**t out of it! Really kind of embarrassing. Makes the truck sound like I did some kind of crappy shoty maintenance or something. Like I don't care about my truck. Got to correct this issue asap!

Damn I was hoping this was going to help :( looks like I am going to have to find a way to seal off my wheel wells from the engine bay to stop the echoing

I used second skin damplifer pro and then motor mat on top on top of that inside of the hood. My truck is new and quiet and I did it right away so it sticks better... I would wrap the headers, should have done that before you put em on. and get some of the other products at second skin to hush that puppy......... I put damplifer pro on the outer door panel then inside and out on the inner panel, stuffed all the voids under the plastic skin put the skin back on and stuffed the area around the window controls and sail panel. Luxury liner is as good as it gets on the firewall, and under the carpet. The fender wells more damplifer and spay over that. Now the only thing I hear is wind around the mirrors and antenea mast and hood scoop. I am pulling the roof liner out for a layer of DP and polyfill and getting a hidden antenea. I hope to get it as quiet as my Avalon. You will get real good sound out of your speakers also. Let me know how you make out.

 Damn, sounds like alot of work! I wish I had the time to do all that. Maybe the hidden antenna. That sounds pretty bad ass. Yeah, I would wrap the headers but Thorley advises not to. Right now I need to get rid of the ticking from the blown mainfold gasket. This just happend. I had a small leak from re-using my gaskets. I know others have re-used em but it just turns out I didn't have good luck with that. Oh well, Getting new ones today. Then I'll think about some of those options you did.

nothing worse than when I drive past a building or parked cars and can hear my engine ticking past them.. Really sounds like crap.. I'm gonna try this fix and see what happens.. Then maybe an amsoil oil change. heard that helps a bit..

Holy shit! this made a noticeable difference in my 'yoder. Now when I pull in the garage my mood is not shattered by the ticking sound that I should not hear from a $30,000 truck. Thanks!
