also sand the armwrest before applying glue so it has something to grip to.

    4th Attempt SUCCESS.
I got a half yard of leather from a place called "Creative Leather" furniture, they are here in Centennial, CO and in AZ (where it shipped from) for $35.

The leather is a perfect match to the doors/dash/steering wheel... even the grain/texture is awesome!.

....So I used the 3M Super77 Adhesive this time, made sure to clean the panel nice and good. Then set a timer for 22 min after spraying the glue on both the leather and plastic. When I got back to the pieces and touched them I was scared at first that I let them dry toooo long, but once they made contact with each other... it was a fight to pull them apart, so had to work fast on forming everything. I ABSOLUTELY WOULD RECOMMEND leather over vinyl. It just works out better.... It stretches, molds, forms, feels, smells better all around!!!

Here are some pictures. (I will be doing the front's later)

Did mine a while back black perforated alcantara, great write-up. You made it very easy, the old was dingy gray.

I guess putting a piece of foam wouldn't work right...? Just thinking of having a softer landing for your elbow ..

Sure....it's juts going to be much harder to do for a novice like most of us.

Foam must be cut right with tapered edges and must adhere to leather and plastic. I thought about doing it, but decided I my skillz are lacking and I would screw it up so I just covered them up.

How do you re-attach the piece back on the door panel after you drilled it out.?

Yes I see them, I just couldn't see why they are not coming through to the other side but there must be enough thickness there to make it work. I haven't taken my panels off yet because it looked like a big job but I think I will try it... Thanks

They has little pegs that have little plastic welds on top to hold it in place. You break those mushroom plastic heads off taking it apart then run the short pointy wood screws into the leftover peg when done and going back together.

....and yes, there is perforated stuff to do this with, see post #367 above............
