That is a great setup Wyotaco! Easy, and adjustable and quick to remove, simple. You don't really need anything more unless you want it pretty. I like functional builds!

Added some of the round Super Magnets under the velcro and is working out great. I think we used 5 magnets.

I also did the snaps on the cab side and all the ribs lined up great. It's one of the reasons I decided to go w/ the snaps.

If you don't want to do velcro or magnets, I've found that if you just shut the tailgate over the "tail", it'll stay in place and not really allow any dust in. In fact, I can't decide if I prefer it on the outside or inside. Aesthetically anyway.

What size snaps did you put in? My velcro melted off the plastic bed (up towards the cab where the ribs are), so now it's flapping around. Think I want to just put snaps in and be down with it. Is it a 3/8" snap, and where did you buy them? I leave for CO in a week and want to get it dealt with before I make the 13 hour drive. Thanks in advance

Ah. I bought my used for another TW member. Just trying to figure out what button snaps I need to buy to anchor the front flap. I'm assuming they are 3/8". The button on the flap measured out to be somewhere between 3/8"-1/2". I'll try and contact Softopper on Monday.

I bet they send you some. You just pre-drill a small pilot hole and then the snap screws right in. Don't over tighten them.

    These toppers look great everyone!

Going to get a Softopper for my '14 DCSB in Spruce Mica, but can't decide black, charcoal or tan. Leaning toward charcoal. What do you think? Would love help deciding. Thanks!

I always think about re sale value.. it'd be super easy to sell a black one then it would be any other color... food for thought

I wanted the Spruce Mica, but was told very few OR are painted that way here so have silver instead with a black top. If I had the Spruce truck I'd go tan all day long.

Getting very close to pulling the trigger on a softopper for my 14' DCLB. I've got a mild lift (2" front and 1" rear) and running larger tires on the stock rims, when I park underground at work the highest part on the truck (currently the XM radio antenna) has about 1" to spare at the lowest point of the garage.

Can anyone with a newer model with satellite radio let me know if the softopper is taller than the sat. antenna and if so by how much? Based on the great pics everyone has been posting it looks fairly close...if anything maybe a bit higher at the back (the last rib by the tailgate) but tough to tell with the angles involved.

As easy as it sounds to lower it I don't want to do it every day when I arrive at work. I'm planning to remove my tri-fold hard tonneau and leave the softopper on 24/7 if possible. The height might be the only show stopper for the topper!

I've got the timberland mica and black bestop. Here's a pic for comparisons. Somewhere in this thread is a green with tan top too.

Thanks for the advice. KCDuran, that was a good point about resale value and may have sold me on black. And, ERMB, your set up is sweet and that bestop looks great on your truck (thanks for the comparison with tan).

Anyone know if a softopper from a Chevy Colorado with a 72" bed will work on a 2nd gen tacoma long bed? What might I need to make it work? Tried to get softopper on the phone to ask then but haven't had any luck.
