Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The only significant horsepower gain you will get is from a supercharger or custom turbo.

A TRD super charger is rated at 304 HP with 334 ft/lbs of torque.

Your truck is rated around 236 hp with 266 ft/lbs of torque.

Interesting. Could you give some more information on re-gearing? I have 285s and hate how my truck screams going up hills/mountains at interstate speeds. What are my options for regearing, and what are the associated costs?

expensive. pretty sure 4.56's put you back at stock power. if you do regear and have a 2 wd truck id recommend doing a locker, if your going to get one at anytime this is the time to get it, cause for regearing you gotta tear out your third so it just saves time and money.

    My tacoma is 4wd.

I'd like to get it back to where it isn't struggling uphill so much... but not sure that I have much for options.

Okay, perhaps I should just start a new post on this... but I'm still curious what all is involved. I'm assuming gears for front/rear, possibly ECU adjustment? Not sure what to expect. If I can get all of the information together and price this option out, I'd be very interested in doing a regear.

Anytime I have re geared, it was just a matter of putting in the new gears. Never had to adjust anything else.
