Is that random red wire running to the engine temp sensor? I only ask because my temp indicator shoots to the middle before the truck is even warm. Wondering if you had a similar issue.

When I disconnect the plug, it still shows middle indication. Must be a bad gauge or a wire shorting out somewhere.

Yes, its from the temp sensor gauge, but not for the same problem you have. I accidentally broke the part that connects everything together so I piggy-backed it.

 

Got you. It is the only problem I have had on the truck. Too bad the gauge is like $80 or i would swap it out.

replaced my factor 55 prolink (sold to Drainbung) with a viking offroad safety thimble.

the new unit replaces the thimble on the winch line itself basically eliminating a link in the chain that can potentially fail.

the only PITA part is that you have to completely remove the winch line, un thread and re splice the new thimble onto the line. It was not very hard there are a few videos on youtube. I would recommend buying the splice kit from viking as well it made it easier.

installed and wound under tension, i used my girlfriends honda as an anchor to spool the winch line under tension, i wasnt aware that it needed to be wound under tension.

 

changed rear diff, transfer case, front diff oil, motor oil, transmission oil and didn't have enough for power steering cuz I used it all for the trans drain and fill . oh and clean the engine bay/interior dash from last weeks hunting trip boy was it dusty on the trails. just found out my lower coolant hose is seeping, now its time to replace them lol 250k miles.

 

Harbor freight is selling their 12000 badlands winch for 299. Should I get one? Good deal?

Winches are funny, on one hand you hope to never have to use it so you don't want to spend a lot on it, but on the other hand when you do need to use it you need it to work and a cheap one is more likely to shit the bed earlier.

Yes, but you need a different/modified relay to make it blink at the right speed..
