Ignition Light Ring Mod help!!

I did find the correct Toyota Part Number: 81870-35050 LAMP ASSY, KEY CYLINDER (2002 4Runner version), I ordered a new one last night. I'll follow up and post details w pictures. Best price I could find was parts@camelbacktoyota.com $36.37 w S&H

So this part will be exact no muss no fuss replacement? Nothing else needed for 01?

 

Youll also need the black rubber cover from the 4runner cause the oem Taco won't work. Other than that, it should work for your '01. At least from what I've gathered.

I tried one from a corolla which looks a lot like the camry one. Im my opinion this one didnt work well in my 03 tacoma. Its seemed as if it had to be forced to work and then the bezel didnt want to go back on very nicely. I have also noticed there is a threaded hole to attach the key ring to ignition cylinder. Has anyone with the 4runner key ring light used this to mount it? Does it line up with threaded hole in cylinder? I have ordered the 4runner one listed above and will update when it arrives. It looks like this one has a mounting hole or notch to match up with threaded hole in my ignition cylinder.

you can find a little screw/bolt to attach the 4-Runner one if you want. however the bezel will hold it in place once it's on. the Corolla one may fit over the key cylinder but have a different mounting design.

 

Yeah I just wanted to post pictures for reference for others. The one I first tried was like the top picture much like the camry. I was not real happy with fitment but Im a bit picky. I ordered the 4runner one instead.

 

Anyone know which wire(s) I need to tap into to make them run like oem?

 

Ok so my order for part#81870-35050 came in and is totally the wrong part and will not work for a 03 tacoma. The hole for the ignition switch is way to small. The part needed is in my above post second picture but im unsure what the part# is. If someone figures it out let me know. I have waisted about 50 bucks on this mod and still dont have one that works.

 

please keep us posted,, i wanna know which complete parts list will work for this

 

Hm, mine 2000 3.4 sr5 came with this ring stock from the factory. Or am I missing something here.

Yep open door ignition ring (green) comes on, insert key light goes off. I guess 01-04 does not have this.

the pic doesnt show the black surround.. which is what i want, yeah?
