I could use a hand installing my winch and bumper, god knows I can't lift all that by myself, I'm in springfield. I can do all the wiring, just need a hand hoisting the bumper up and bolting it down.

I still have to prep my stock bumper and paint my shorty winch bumper insert..Maybe next weekend or the weekend after that.

?- wouldn't expect you to ;) I don't mind sharing my tools. Most of the needed tools can be bought for less than $100

All anyone really needs on our trucks, is a socket set for the most part.
    10, 12-14, 17,19-24 if I remember correctly. Breaker bar.

Combo wrench in similar sizes. Plus if you have ratcheting in the same sizes that are adjustable, it helps on suspension components.

depending on how many vehicles are being worked on at a time, minimum of 1 floor jack per vehicle. If we are doing suspension and doing 2 sides at a time, I would prefer 2 floor jacks per vehicle.

Pickle fork, and a couple various mallets or hammers.

Impact gun, mine is an IR 20v cordless. haven't met a bolt yet that it couldn't break or bust. I have a smaller one that is great too.

Soldering iron, heat gun, crimper, strippers -

    *Things I don't have
    • Welder
      Plasma cutter
      Torque Wrench
      Deutsch Crimper
      Jack Stands
      Spanner Pliers

With that list, thats really all that is needed to do 95% of the work our vehicles. Besides the jack stands, thats really the only other thing I do not have.

Bring it. Or if you need help loading it in the bed, I'm right up the street from you. Bumpers and winches can be 2+ hours of work. Lining up everything before tightening down is the kicker.

Those are another 2+ hrs depending on if break lines need to be bleed or not.

Key to most mod days, I found, is to have multiple people helping bang out ~2 vehicles at a time. Otherwise, tempers can flare when we are all stepping over each other. :duel:

Just rolled over 40k miles the other day.. Averaging ~700 miles per week.

I know I talked with the guys on Tuesday, but does anyone have any recommendations for tires? I'm torn between General Grabber AT2's, BFG AT's, and Hankook Dynapro AT-S's. I've kinda been looking at the BFG Rugged Terrains too after Patrick recommended them.. They're what my girlfriends family has on all three of their jeeps too and they love them.

I drive a ton (obviously) but a decent amount it spent offroad on packed dirt and mud on construction sites, and I plan on going camping/trying to go wheeling a decent amount this upcoming year as well.

I am down for a mod day.

Lespualkid- Check out Hankook Dynapro-MTs, they are Max Traction so not mud terrains but just very aggressive all terrains...I had them on my last truck and got 65k out of them before I traded it in and they still had 1/3 tread. I have 15k on my set now and they are just starting to show signs of wear, I would say about 80% still left.

They are pretty quiet and I have yet to have any issues on construction sites. Also, I drove 50 miles with a 1 inch piece of metal (like a knife blade) in the tire and let the truck sit for 8 hours before getting to the tire shop and the tpms light never came on. They are in the same price point as the tires you listed, so you may want to check them out.

i think i'd still lump them into the mud tire category. i think max traction is a category that hankook made up lol. they actucally have deeper lugs than just about all of the other MTs out there, short of intercos.

i do love mine though. this is the first tire that i've said i may buy again when the time comes for new tires. tough as nails and great traction in all terrains. they dig a little in the sand, but then again, all MTs do.

I'll look into them too.. My main problem is that since I drive a lot I don't want something really heavy that will kill my mpg. It's nice that they last a while though. I kinda just ruled out MTs without really looking at them because I assumed they were all way over my budget, heavy, and didn't wear well on pavement. I'm just stepping up to 265/70/17s though so maybe weight wouldn't be a huge problem since it's not that much bigger than stock..

I think I'm ruling out both of the BFGs.. I don't think I want to spend the money on the ATs and I feel as if I could get a better tire for the same price as the rugged terrains.

Anyone had any experience with General Grabber AT2s?

I drive alot too, at 46k miles and the truck is not 2 years old yet. I have a long bed with a camper and haul about 400 pounds in the back daily.

Minimal mods- 3" lift up front, high flow drop-in filter and running 265/70/17s, I get at least 18 mpg per tank.

I am looking for an excuse to go to 285s, if you are interested in mine

SO far, that looks open. Some of the guys don't have their gear ordered yet. Not stressing the days, time is plentiful for me. Lets see what the others have to say.
