Dumping a Ranger.

A couple months ago me and my friend did a engine swap on a ford ranger. bought a totaled ranger but the engine and trans were perfect so we swapped out the 2.3l 4cylinder and trans for a 4.0 v6. it went great got it done in a week, but now we have a hacked up ranger in the sideyard. my question is do any of you know of a place that will take it even if we half to pay them for it. i tried the local dump but they will not take it because we don't have the title for it.

 

I think even if you take it to a scrap yard you need the title. Go to the dmv and you should be able to get a title for it.

 

thanks. will the dmv give me one even though im not the registered owner. the guy we bought it said he would pick the truck up when we were done so he didn't half to give us the pink. but he flaked out and now doesn't answer his phone or anything.

 

Tell them your situation. I know my mom has done something similar with a car. They might have to try and contact him or something but you should be able to get something. Call first and tell them. Its late I cant think

 

you are in for a huge hassel. I would take a sawzall to the truck and take it to the dump as metal scrap...cut it up small so they dont know it was a truck then throw on a bunch of other shit and unload it as quick as possible. If you try the same thing at a metal recycler (place thay buys metal scrap), unless they are complete tards, they are gonna know what you did and wont take it. To legally dump the truck anywhere they will require you to have the title. To get a title on a truck not in your name...well... the DMV will make you jump through alot of hoops and you will waste money.

You have way to get it to the scrap yard? If you're unable to get the title, you could just leave it at scrapyard while they're closed. Hard for them to refuse it that way, though you won't get paid for it. If they do try to contact the owner based on VIN or something, they'll contact the flake.

 

You should've been given the title (salvage title) when you bought the truck in the first place.

I wouldn't just drop it off somewhere - you might be seen by anyone and reported (not good).

YOu have NO idea of the history of that truck. As far as anyone knows...it could be a stolen truck, and the guy you bought it from never had the title to begin with.

I'd do exactly what Gearaholic said and cut it up into pieces - just in case the thing is stolen.

 

cut the cab in peices and dump a little bit at a time.i did that for a samurai i had

 

Bury it in the backyard.

 

Hopefully you can cut it up and ditch it before the flake gets the idea he can report it stolen.

naw it not stolen. when we were about to buy it from the guy i called up my friend who is a sheriff for riverside county and he ran the vin and it checked out. ok sweet ill try cutting the crap out of it, i have 2 yards by my place i so i can take the frame to one and pleaces of the cab to the other.

 

yea i thought about just putting the truck in the middle of the street and calling the cops saying some guys just doped it off and drove away. but knowing my luck someone would see us.

 

Park it somewhere (legally of course) and put a big FREE sign on it.

See how long it takes to disappear.

Here in PA - it probably wouldn't last a day!!

 

Find a bunch of mexicans and ask them in your best spanish tongue if they want it, 50 bucks. I'm sure they'll take it.
