Stop just thinking and start doing. The WABDR trip was one Benson X started thinking about, then started doing something about then plans changed and it sounds like it turned into an epic trip. Put it out there for others to start thinking about for next year, and you will have people on board for the trip, maybe even some of the Idaho and E.WA. people

We went to Van Epps Pass on Saturday. It was a fun trail but not the same views that you get when going to Gallagher Head lake. It was cool to see the remnants of the mining camp up there though.

I knew this was coming as I felt the backlash was a little too much when I had my driveline off last month, I think I toasted the diff today. It was too dark and I'm too pissed to look at it any closer tonight, but I jacked up the rear and spun the tires. It sounds like crunching gravel in the housing. Strange enough though, it drives fine. Only makes an intermittent squeal sound on decel. My questing is, should I spend the money to rebuild the 8" again or have a ford 9" built?

Time for full size rear and a SAS for the front!

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
    That sucks Mike!

Honestly, with your 37s, it might just be a matter of time before you rebuild the 8" Diff (unless you go with Nitro R+P, which I've heard are stronger than OEM). The 8" is considered to be one of the weaker points on these trucks, especially when combined with the extra weight of the over-sized tires.

You might give JTs a call to pick their brain on the matter. They are located in Cashmere, WA and seem to be a great bunch of guys that will steer you in the right direction.

It's got nitro 4.88 gears now, only about 18K miles on them. I'm just debating spending $1K on rebuilding it again or dropping in my spare open 4.88 diff for now and building a better one. Maybe call diamond? I don't know, I really want to keep this truck and continue to build it, this is really going to cut into my SAS savings fund.

It seemed like it was longer with about the same difficulty. I would suggest taking all the harder paths to get the most fun out of it. We did not do the Van Epps Loop which is marked #303 on the trail.

With 37s, put in a better rear end and SAS the front.

Get Will to bondo that for you.

Hey Brady, I just got back from vacation. I thought about this randomly while I was on the trip. No rush but I just wanted to check back to see if you have any idea of when you will be doing this.

We are trying to catch up on bills... and I have no clue when I'll be able to get another one built. Doesn't look like any time soon. Sorry Kolt...
