I know I don't have the "almighty and patented" STS kit, but if I drive normal (I actually did for 2 tanks worth) then I can break 20 mpg average. Norm was 17-18 NA. That needle DROPS LIKE A ROCK now though if I get my foot in there pretty good

STS Turbo, URD turbo portfueler, methanol injection,
Yes it does. And with the turbo it's hard to keep a light foot.

Ok guys the ball is starting to roll again. I'm going to buy the CXracing headers+downpipe so I can utilize the turbo and charge piping I have. The smallest intercooler I could find was a 2.5" in and out with OAD of 19"x6". My year of grill and bumper gives me VERY LITTLE room to work with, so I'm going to put the intercooler under the radiator slanted backwards 45deg right where the power steering hose bracket sits. I'm going to fab up some thin metal around it to act as a funnel to get as much air contact on the intercooler as possible. I think I should be fine with the 2" charge pipes I have (looking more for quick response/less lag than being over 400hp).

Until I get my oil pan tapped for the oil drain, I think I'll just use the scavenge pump I have so I can get the headers hooked up and enjoy a little boost right away.

As for the exhast, I have some 312 SS welding arc rods so I'll fab something up. Probably going to get a magnaflow high flow cat and muffler... All 3".

Next big buy is a mapecu3 to control the extra injectors.

Have you bought the CXRacing turbo manifold yet? I ask because I want to buy them too, but I want somebody else to fit them up first and report back on quality, and how well they fit before I go and spend that kind of money, lol.

I did buy an extra oil pan this week from some guy off Craigslist, and had a -10 AN oil return bung welded on. I even bought a cap for it so I can install the pan before I'm ready for the turbo. I'm just not looking forward to having to drop the front differential in order to get the pan swapped out.

My Garrett turbo I plan on using:

    Dude that's awesome!!!
Sorry for the late reply man I haven't checked on this thread for a while now.
I haven't got the CX kit yet, but I'm going to regardless of quality or reviews because I have a welder and plenty SS rods to fix whatever I have to. Can't beat $620 shipped for SS turbo headers even if they fit all crappy.
I bought all the oil drain fittings and hoses, I just have to stop by the local Toyota truck yard to pick up an oil pan so I can take it to get welded.
Which version of the CX kit do you plan on getting?

I'll give you my old oil pan if you pay the cost of shipping. Somehow I lost the oil drain plug in the process of swapping pans.

Dropping the front differential was a total b!tch to do. Did this with a lot of help from another member from the T4R.org forum. My fill plug for the front diff came off just fine, but the drain plug did not. TAKE YOUR FILL PLUG OFF BEFORE TAKING OFF THE DRAIN PLUG. Diff fluid was everywhere when the CVs were out and wrestling the diff out. Getting the diff in and out completely sucks. It will hit the bellhousing of the trans and get stuck, both taking it out and when putting it back in. Use a big floor jack to raise it and lower it. Don't forget to disconnect the vacuum lines, the sensor on the front diff, and breather hose, and hook it all back up when you're finished. Get a buddy to help you because I could never have done it alone.

I plan on using the manifolds and downpipe only from the CX kit, and tie it into the stock exhaust after the downpipe. No intercooler or blowoff valve. I'm currently planning my intake, will have the MAF post turbo. Have my oil lines and fittings sitting in a box. My biggest worry now is how to get the stock exhaust crossover pipe out of the engine bay. I'm not hacking it up in case I need to go back to stock. If the CX kit doesn't fit right, then I'm SOL. I don't have a welder, and I don't know how to weld. That's why I'm holding off on buying the manifolds. I'll buy them once I have every other part I need and I'm ready to install. That way, if they don't fit I'll lodge a complaint with eBay and get my money back.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
To get the cross pipe, jack up the truck and take it out from under the truck on the passenger side. Its not a clean fit so it will need to be man handled if you dont cut it.

The CX down pipe is 3" and the stock is 2.25. Also a tip for the headers Ive heard but haven't verified: Aparently you can jack the engine up a few inches for better clearance to remove/install the headers.

Thanks for the advice dude but I'll probably have my boss put in the headers and oil pan (he said $300 so what the heck). He said most of the time you can just jack up the engine to make both of those things easier. I might take you up on that oil pan offer but I couldn't imagine myself having you pack it up and haul it to the post office for free. I'll throw an extra $20 in there at least.
I hope using the stock exhaust doesn't rob you of a lot of potential power. Being the cheap ass that I am, if I were you I would probably tee it off right after the CX downpipe, run half to the stock exhaust and run the other half to the other side into a cheap muffler with flex-pipe from autozone. That would do it the same justice as a 3" custom single exhaust.

Don't want to clutter up your new build thread with more off topic conversation, so I'll post here.

If you have a guy willing to do that work for $300, then you're a lucky man, lol. I'd definitely take that deal. I kind of suspect he doesn't quite know what all he's getting himself into, but maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, I jacked the engine up, but it only helped a small bit for getting the diff out. Looking back, it might have just been easier to have pulled the motor and swapped the pan that way, as opposed to screwing around with the front diff under the truck.

I think I'll be ok with the stock exhaust. I don't really plan to go over 7psi, but if I do I'll look into upgrading. I think the supercharged guys do ok with the stock exhaust, but I'll play it by ear. On mine, it's actually a 2.5" 2-bolt flange just after the first catalytic converter (I have 2), and then it transitions to 2.25" further downstream. Maybe Tacomas are different. Haven't bought it yet, but I plan on using this piece to adapt the 3" vband downpipe to my stock exhaust:

PM me your shipping address and I'll shoot you a price. If you want, I can even drill a 1" hole in it lol.

Cool. I'll be helping him out the whole time so it shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully I can knock it all out in a few hours.
