    lol. Everything's relative, I guess.
I paid $95k for my 3 bedroom 2 bath 2200 square foot house on three acres.
I don't have a pool, but I do have a garage (much more useful to me, especially in a climate where it's snowy and cold for more months than it's sunny and hot.

To be fair, though, my house was a short sale that had NOT been "meticulously maintained" and needed some serious updating.

That's even better, but my "that's pretty cheap" is coming from our house in Andover. We got a raised ranch on 2 acres with mold and water damage for $400k...

If you can see everything in Boston in one day then your much quicker than me. It's not a large city like LA but lots of historic places to check out. :)

From one of the guys that actually works in Boston.

Depends which side of Boston you're on I think. I'm about 30 miles south and the 750K price would get you a McMansion practically. Go north and west and 500K is an intro price, it's pretty wild.

I got in at a pretty reasonable point for what I have but it's amazing how much more you get outside the Northeast.

I like me the South Shore tho, born and raised. One day I'd like to move closer to the water. I was born in Scituate and would love to move back. I'd need a small lottery win to pull it off tho.

I would agree with you with one clarification. I said 30 minutes outside of Boston, not 30 miles. With traffic around here, 30 minutes from downtown Boston in any direction doesn't get you very far. You'd barely clear Quincy in 30 minutes

I have had enough of the city and the commute but I need the city for about another twenty years. Then the only ice I want to see is in my drink. Gone gone gone

Oh sure...the technicality of traffic. I agree with you about the Southeast Expressway. When I worked in Cambridge I took the T. Granted it was like a 2.5-3 hour round trip, but it beat traffic.

That being said, I do feel south is definitely cheaper compared to any other area. Traffic it what it is. I ended up being transferred to my company's Weymouth lab so it made house searching a little easier than if I was still taking the commuter rail into the city daily. I did it for the first 6 years out of school, almost 3 hours round trip. It was terrible, but it beat living in the city!
