Cant just swap the crossmember?

 

I know at least 2 people that are looking for good rear bumpers

nope, the frame support is different, next time look under my truck and then at yours, you'll notice that my transfercase is mounted higher.

I swapped the crossmember out and I still had to chop a section out and weld in a custom plate I designed.

 

You make it sound so technical lol

Ahh. I thought you had to do all that cause you didn't have the 4x4 crossmember...

 

I think that too... the couple conversions on TW show that the crossmember on the 2x is a couple inches up toward the engine and not the same design.

The guy is supposed to be sending me some pics of the damage. Then if good to go, gotta line up a shop or yard to bring it too, and make sense of how much this could cost in total. (Including towing, work done, etc).

May be worth it, still may not...

 

I'd just trade it in for a new one...

Yea.. That is kinda an option kinda not... with the bumper coming in, I would need a used 5-11

 

I looked I to trading mine (would never do it though). It would be about $10k more after trade in for a 4x4, even more if I got a Taco I'm looking at $2500 for the swap parts (some new, most used) and about $300 in labor for the one thing I'm not down with doing myself. Only advantage to buying a new truck I see is warranty, and time saved. But at the cost of dolla bills y'all.

 

Could just bring it to your place Neil , then could have a mod weekend every weekend until the conversion is completed........ Just kidding, don't think your wife would allow it.

 

Did anyone else notice that new listings on CL require you to agree to an updated terms of use agreement? It has a paragraph saying that you accept that they can charge you a non-refundable fee for your post?

I don't know how they would charge you, or how they would know if you sold something or not, but I don't like where this is going..

 

$1500s a good deal for a truck. Coulda got a slightly rolled one with no title for 2k and it wasn't even a trd. Im sure you can make the money back. Ive been trying to find a parts 4wd for awhile. I need a drivers window track and passenger tail light. The bed side and tail gate are just cosmetics for me, if anything it'd be cool to replace my bed side but no biggie either on it.

I think I have another adapter plate for the crossmember-transfercase support, i'll check today.

I'm going to sell mine when my new rear bumper comes in November but it's chrome and plastic dip black right now.

So beater not gonna be worth it for me.. all around still may be about 6+ for a conversion.. maybe I'll get lucky with a used one day, or no need... (more of a want than a need right now anyway.. like the rest of my truck..lol)
