Chances are they did not check during the trade process.
I traded a 2009 F150 in on a Tacoma and they did not check car-fax on my truck. The left front fender got dented from a 4 wheeler hitting me. Minor repair done by a small independent shop.
Went in for my first oil change and I asked the salesman how long my truck set on the lot. He said someone wanted to buy it and wanted a car-fax. Car-fax reported left front damage but did not indicate it was Minor. Man would not take the truck. They had to auction the truck and lost $1,000 on the value of the truck. said they did not lose money on deal but about broke even.
I felt really bad about this as I always try to be honest. Still feel bad about it. This dealer trusted me so much we could make a deal over the phone and I have before without them even seeing my truck.

I totally agree. I'm sure in your place I'd feel the same way. I work in a sales career and if, very rarely, things turn nasty and the customer is particularly determined it's best to walk away and wait for court from the sellers perspective. There's no point in talking once the relationship is adversarial whether that's just a perception or not. As I said in earlier posts, it's not like Toyota is with holding a fix from you, they probably in fact do not have one. The problem may stem from the design of the entire powertrain and not be easily fixable.

Sometimes if things seem like the big bad evil Toyota is trying to screw you it's a good thing to remember how it can look from there side too. As I said, best of luck to you. I hope they get it all fixed up right for you. If not I'm sure there could be a shiney new Frontier in your driveway rather than piles of lawyers bills.

I would take the shiny new Frontier or Colorado route. I have had a Frontier and they are every bit as nice as a Tacoma. More goodies for less money.
Before the end of the year a shiny new Colorado will be in my driveway because of the Tacoma vibration issues and lack of a redesign that would probably fix these issues.

Thanks.. I'm in sales as well, I'm a rehab specialist for the largest equipment provider in the country. It's a difficult position to be in at times, you always have to be "on", polite gracious and conscious of every word, tone, gesture and movement you make. We have to maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, insurance companies, doctors, caregivers, therapists, teachers, family members, case managers, coworkers, powers of attorney, management and lastly.. the patient. I'm pretty good at my job, I'm tactful, professional, thoughtful and caring. There are times when peoples needs cannot be met due to insurance, environmental needs or ?? We don't like to take equipment back (who does), but we do when it's the appropriate course of action. If there is an issue with a product, we are all over it.. as long as it isn't user abuse, we will replace/repair it under warranty, and if we believe it's bigger issue than just repairs, we replace the whole chair/seating system and take it up with the manufacturer. The customer should not have to go head to head with the manufacturer, we take care of that because we provided the equipment. And yes, cars trucks are typically more expensive than power wheelchairs. Many of the high end chairs we provide are over $20k, sometimes over $30k. Depends on the needs of the client (MS, ALS, SCI) and the complexity of the seating systems (molding seating) powered seating options and driver interface (head array, sip and puff etc).

Long winded, sorry.. My point, I do not treat our patients/customers the way Toyota has treated us, and I never will.

I think it's up to the company to report it and if they don't then it stays off the record. Even my Allstate insurance doesn't report to carfax, which I found odd. If I were to use their "big name" repair shop then it would get reported because that particular shop files the report. This has been my experience with 3 different cars in the last 3 years or so.

I had serious issues with a 2013 SHO at 10k miles, which I eventually sold at a loss, and Ford had terrible customer service from the bottom up too. I think that sort of piss-poor service is the new industry standard.

How is it a fail? I'm still wanting to see some pics.

And curiously a buddy of mine and I were talking. When we re geared my mustang and put my driveshaft back in the rear end jumped and vibrated like crazy around 60 mph. We took the rear housing apart and nothing was wrong so buttoned it back up re filled and same.

Then we took the drive shaft out rotated it 90 degrees and drove. Bingo. No more vibes, no jumping. Have you tried this with the stock ds?

Yeah, that's a bit far fetched. People don't stop buying Toyota due to there use as technicals. That like saying people in the Middle East don't buy 3/4 ton GM's because Allison makes the transmission in the M1 tank.....

It sounds like his ford dealer didn't really need any more used trucks on the lot and tried to low ball him. I've been offered good numbers by our toyota dealership in the past when I briefly looked at swapping to an offroad model. The Tacoma still has the best retained value in Canada, and the last report was only done a few months ago for that.

That not what he/she is saying.

If the people in middle east (that we supposedly don't like) are using product A and you can buy product A in the states....people will not want product A because its associated with people "we" don't like.

Let's pretend the toyota was based in the middle east. Think resale would stay the same after 9/11? No.

    Lol, you're funny. He's funny everybody :D.

I guess your world still includes racist assumptions and Christian values over logical thinking? Oh wait, I forgot, it's all because 'MERICA!

Just because extremists happen to prefer mounting machine guns on toyota's over hyundai's will not effect our tacoma's resale value. Period.
