Be careful with that..violates FCC rules for type accepted radios and what not. And I wouldn't make a thread since it's actually illegal to do so as it would violate TW code of conduct. Plenty of HAM buffs here at TW would be all over that pointing that out...

yea thats what i was thinking but its just a regular frequency on the ham and channel 1 on a walkie talkie. I'm not modifying anything. Does that still make a difference?

They're good radios but you'll probably need to purchase a programming cable and down load the some software to program that sucker properly with whatever frequencies that you want in it. You can also youtube it for a bunch of videos showing and demonstrating all of its features.

no. I just type in the frequency and bam. to save channels is a different story. you can do manually and where the cd comes in makes it faster. I think its pretty much like itunes for ham. organize all your frequencies and name them so its a lot faster then by doing it with the ham keypad.

Yes...you don't have an amature radio license that's issued by the FCC to properly operate that radio.

The worst case scenario is that you inadvertently operated on a frequency that you're not supposed to be on and caused some interference, then the FCC can hunt you down by tracking your signal. It's a 15 thousand dollar fine minmum plus they will confiscate the radio lmao. Do some research on the frequencies that you want to use to ensure that they won't interfere with Public Safety (police departments, fire, ambulance or hospitals etc etc..)

Sooo, I talked to the other drivers insurance today. They already accepted 100% liability and repair costs which makes things easy. Took the truck to their recommended shop just to see what they say. It was a Caliber Collision in Ontario. I asked the insurance if I can go aftermarket and they said its upto the shop. The shop said it has been along time since anyone asked that, but they are gonna do whatever they can to make it happen.

They want to completely replace the bumper, trailer hitch, tow harness, tailgate and taillight. They also said it will all be aftermarket not OEM but the cost of a new bumper with the step plate and brackets as well as a brand new hitch should still exceed the cost of the plate bumper with high clearance hitch so it should work out. They said they cant Do "partial repairs" and cash out the rest so the are going to push for either an "appearance credit" which is basically a lower amount settlment of cash for the items not being fixed like the bumper or they said it may be best to just cash out on the entire amount of the repairs and then complete the repairs myself.

I think thats the best option. So if the estimate I get looks good and the insurance accepts then ill probably take the check or go to a shop who will do that for me. Then Ill replace the traillight and tailgate OEM and then go aftermarket on the bumper. That should work better since then ill be cashing out on the labor cost as well.

I plan to get a standard AllPro bumper with hitch and D-rings
