    Yeah, what's happening with that? When are you doing your fenders?

    on the topic of the LR arms...I know they've been discussed on here a lot lately about arms that have broken at the weld. I'll admit it's got me a little concerned, however two good friends here locally have been running LR for a long time. One was Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and another guy that had LOTS of wheeling miles on his including two trips through the Rubicon and neither one of them ever had any issues. So I don't know all the factors that went into the ones that broke, but I'm still feeling good about them. Time will tell. I do have plans to pull them out soon and gusset the eyes similar to how the TC or Camburg arms are gusseted. Should be no worries after that.

    I was about to say. Those breaks have me worried and if I had a welder, that would be my first thing to do. Mine have been running strong since 2011 though so Im hoping there was just a bad batch...

    I contacted spc about the problem. They responded by saying the arms that use 4 washers per side are the arms that they are having problems with. If you have washers on the outside of the arms only. Meaning 2 per arm. Then they are the ones that are ok. If you have 4 washers per side the welds are getting pinched and breaking. If this is what some people still have then spc will send you new washers.

    If you have 4 washers you also have the old/crap bushings. SPC will replace the entire arm and ball joint with a new pair that has the poly bushings and two washer system.

    Interesting. I got mine used from ponethousand and they have sleeved poly bushings and the only came with 4 washers (2 per arm). Is there another way to tell whether I have arms designed for 2 or 4 washers?

    Sleeved bushings are the old style. Pain in the ass to remove as well, recently just did mine.

    You have the newer revision.

    The original arms used 4 washers per arm (inside and outside washer per bolt hole). SPC swapped over to the newer revision in 2010-2011ish.

    I don't quite buy the SPC statement; plenty of UCA's since the revision. These are manufactured in China btw. Ive been a strong support of LR but know Im not too sure...

    Just sharing an observation now that I've had enough time to confirm it. I was definitely getting better fuel economy with my Safari Snorkel. I was pretty consistently getting somewhere in the 18mpg range when I had my Safari Snorkel. Now that my snorkel has been off for a couple months I'm consistently getting mid 16's. There's no restriction in the intake and it's essentially back to stock configuration using an OEM air filter in the stock air box which is exactly how it was with the snorkel. The only real difference is the intake location and that there is a subtle "ram air" effect with the snorkel.

    So there ya go. The Snorkel increases mpg.

    Jesus Christ, let's not get into semantics in Adam's build thread. It was a simple question for Fernando if he had a drop in or an open air cone-style filter (typically referred to as a CAI).

    My whole point was if Ferny had an open air filter element I was going to recommend he get a pre-filter to wrap around the filter like a condom. It's a godsend in dusty environments.

    It's people like you that have turned TW into a shit show for those who are genuinely here to learn and help.

    Sorry guys, didnt mean to stir up a shit storm! :eek:

    Its a drop in. I almost got a cold air (only cuz they sound so badass) but i decided against it since I know eventually I will get a snorkel. I actually wanted to buy Adam's but he already had a waiting list :(

    I have seen those. Those look like they help. but as far as the drop in goes, im not sure what to do. And I havent done the deckplate mod either (dont plan on doing it either)

    No worries man, you didn't do anything.

    Nothing you can do with a drop in. Honestly I would suggest going back to a OE Toyota paper filter. They do a far better job in filtering particulates. Not washable, but they are cheap enough to just replace twice a year. After scoring the rotors on my supercharger with the shit that passed though my high flow filter, I'm not a fan for offroad vehicles.

    I had a k&n drop in and a cone type filter on my truck. After the 2nd roll when I cracked my intake, I replaced it with a junkyard one that used a paper filter. My old one had all kinds of crap on the inside while the replacement one was still nice and clean. So I need up doing more cleaning on the lower portion of my intake.
