Mine is the same way. I haven't really inspected much but I do know I cannot stop the front left bolt that holds the seat down from rusting. It's really odd.

Well girls don't fart so that can't be the problem :D

And how a seat rusts here is beyond me. Looks nasty.

I know. Pulled it open and I was like eww WUT. I'll probably get buckets in the future anyway. I think I'm going to put some felt in there to see if that will help.

    FOUND IT.

It was the left rear seat bolt bracket bushing where it bolts to the floor. Guess the bushing dried up. But sprayed some WD on it for now and it fixed it. Thank god because I was about to go on a rampage for as annoying as it was. The rust spot squeaks slightly but not enough to bother me.

Is that the seat back? Moisture got in there and hung out. I think those springs oxidize pretty fast. I just had my truck seats cleaned heavily - they musty have put a few gallons of water and soap into them, and it took a few days to dry out. I wouldn't be surprised if I pulled back the covering and found some rust as well.

Yea it's fine. You have to run a slightly low pressure. I'm at 32

    Yea was..exciting..haha

    8s for sure

Yes it's the v6. Way more power. And getting it to pass smog will be easy. Just find one at a junk yard and be good.

I agree that passing off a rebuild is stupid to go 30k in debt. Hell you could buy like a top dollar forged internal LCE 3rz for less and turbo it and shit

I've shampooed the seats myself before but I made sure I got most of the water back out. Might have been something caused by the previous owner. Oh well. If it ever gets real bad I'll just get buckets.

    ...too much shit to list.
He'll need transmission, harness and ECU as well. Still way less than a new truck.

Chris is in CA, which as quirky smog laws. But you don't need any funny paperwork or referee tag if you swap in an engine that came in the truck from the factory. If he were to stuff in a 2UZ or the 1GR-FE, then yeah, that's a trip to the ref. But swapping in a 5VZ is no issue at all.

Wha??? I'm sad. Why do you want new? I always recommend a used car. Maybe a newer taco with less miles? Then you can swap parts over. Why Subaru? Do you need the awd? I loved my wrx, but probably would have had more fun in a rwd powerhouse.

Ok, who makes light brackets to go above the hood on first gens? I know I've seen them. Figured I may as well put my spare duallys there.

True. I'd prolly stick w/ a Japanese import engine. A 6cyl would be sweet! Lol.

Would it be best to get a donor truck for all the misc stuff I'll need? Or should I just buy the parts new as needed if I were to do the 6cyl swap? Thanks for the info.

Only reason I'd want new is for peace of mind that I don't have to always be fixing something or worrying about something breaking. Don't need the awd but would be nice. My dad's highlander has awd and it's pretty fun drivin that thing around. Although I've been thinking of getting a late 90's miata which would be a sick rwd car to have. I think no matter what I'm keeping it. But just unsure of if I want a car for a dd right now or if I want to fix the engine right now.
