You should get an appraisal at the dealership and submit it to their insurance. That should be a better and more accurate dollar amount. 2 quotes are better than one.

 

Really?? I think its one of the better looking ones since im looking at a standard option instead of high clearance. You have a pelfrey huh? Would you go high clearance again if you could do it over again? Im still debating

I plan on getting a 2nd quote too. If i use their recommended shop then their is no adjuster. If I choose my own then an adjuster may get involved which may mess things up. Also need to find a place willing to cut me the check vs paying directly to the shop. I doubt a dealer will do that. But im still exploring my option.

 

Depending on what insurance you have. You can call your insurance have them deal with their insurance. That way you don't get bullied by her insurance.

 

No regrets at all. Love the look that the HC gives the truck plus knowing that I will never crunch my bedsides ever.

 

So i was talking with this chick that rear ended me. Asked if her car was totalled or not. She said it wasnt gonna be until the mechanic tried starting the car and it caught on fire haha so NOW its totalled lol

 

That's what I'll be getting. The solid hitch is massive in my book. If I went high clearance then I'd definitely go Pelfrey.

 

Well my estimate came to $2331. Hopefully they let me just cash out the check so i can fix it myself. Should be plenty to buy a replacement aftermarket bumper and hitch then go with a used taillight and oem tailgate

 

Whats your opinion on the little side pieces that are optional?

 

I got them just to hide a dent.

Is your spare still under your bed?

 

I'm getting them both for aesthetics and functionality. I crunked the underside, behind my left fender which that piece would've helped prevent. Sounds like you'll have enough $$ left over to throw a bbq for us... er....

 

Yah. But only stock spare not a full size 33". I know It says you can only fit a stock spare in there with the allpro hitch

Well the bumper, hitch and side skirts are $930 without paint and shipping. I think i can get free shipping and 10% off but thats still around $850 best case without paint. Plus i want an OEM taillight and tailgate none of this aftermarket crap. So those alone will have to come from the dealer. I want a color matched tailgate not one i have to paint. So that'll drive costs up. Probably wont be much left over. This id all assuming i can get them to send me the check for the full estimated and decline the repairs. Not sure its gonna be that easy. But if there is leftover then BBq it is! Haha

 

Dumb to add a high clearance bumper and leave the spare down there. I have pictures on my gallery of how fugly it looked.

 

Haha i just finished emailing her tight before i read this. I bought a bunch of stuff from her not that long ago so ill definitely be getting it from her again. Good call

 

What's the hottest you guys seen your coolant temp at?

Mine 207 so far driving up the cajon pass.

 

225 out On the 15 fwy through the Mojave last month.

I get 210 around town if it's 100 degrees outside

 

Haven't seen over 195. It's usually 188-190. Highest I've seen is 193 on the 10E freeway uphill heading to the 57.

Yea. That's pretty much the same as me. Thinking about getting a bigger tranny cooler tho.
