Yep, the Labs loooove to swim, my girl Kacy will only tip-toe to the 2nd step in a pool but goes batshit crazy chasing a ball into the surf & wiil not come out until she has it in her mouth, the only thing that will divert her attention is when she sees birds, ANY birds in this case it's local sea gulls, probably thinks they're big white mallards or snowgeese haha, if only I duck hunted, she's a perfect candidate, she soft mouths, doesn't shy or flinch from gunshots either...She came out of the water because she saw 'gulls on the ground or beach rather...perfect bird dog...

Just ordered a Walkydog bike leash and a Ruffwear webmaster (20% off at backcountry right now) for Dex...long walks do not make him tired, hopefully a 1-2 mile run will!

    Yeah.
I love my Walkydog, it works great. I trot my dog up to the end of the street to get him warmed up, and then he runs full-out all the way back, about a half mile each way. He's going between 15 and 20 mph all the way back, no way I could keep up with that on foot.

I have a springer (like a walky dog) that Ollie loved. She'd pull the first 1/2 - 3/4 a mile and then I could keep up with her. Think our route was a mile and a half or 2 miles.... she would almost be just walking when we got home. She would set the pace and control our ride/run. She definitely got a good work out. Good luck with yours

A Wirehaired Pointing Griffon training in the snow. Nine months old in these pictures in January. Sixteen months old now and about 70 pounds. Great dog and soon to be a great hunting dog.

Here is my 9yr old rescue mutt Buster. He loves riding in the truck. The only pain in the ass is, he doesn't jump. Jump for anything, so I have to pick his big ass up and put him in the truck.

Courage is a big boy! Hate to hear about the cancer but glad you gave him a life he deserved!

^That griffon is bad ass! I wanted one so bad but the breeders around wyoming only sell to avid bird hunters and not so much as a friend to enjoy adventures with. O well.

A griff will be my next dog, but I also don't bird hunt (well, right now anyway) so I'm looking for one thats less of a worker.

Ash is the same way right now. He started putting his front paws up so I have hope that I won't be picking the 90lb future him up . 50lb him is kinda hard taxing as is!

They are awesome. I almost "settled" for a wirehair pointer which is far more common here but found my catahoula first. When I am out of college and pick up a friend for Ash Ill be searching for a griff again. There was one breeder in colorado that sells them firstly as pets and secondly for hunting but they wanted $2500 -$3000 for them. There is a griffon rescue most breeders directed me to but they never got back to me either .

I've been watching Griffonpoint's rescue page (http://www.griffonpoint.com/griffon-rescue.html specifically the message board link) and there are never any near PA. Seems like they're either in new england or out your way.
