I'm completely new to toyota tacomas. I have a '14 4wd double cab tacoma and I want to lift it either 3 or 4" to clear the space needed for 33" tires.

I would appreciate it if yall had some insight on which company to go with or the smartest options. Nothing has been done to the truck yet.

    Thanks in advance yall.

What is the goal/use going to be for the truck?

    Tow? Haul? Wheel? Mall crawling?

Do you have a budget in mind or is that not a concern?

Well based on budget and what your use will be:

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/headstrong-kits-tacoma-05-6-lug.html

    Bilstein Kit
    - NO diff drop
    - top plate spacer if you plan on running full 3"
    - 2" AAL if you're not worried about towing; full leaf pack replacement is suggested.
    - Coil assembly suggested
    - Light racing UCA's (highly recommended on anything over 2.5" of lift)

You can go a step up and get the full OME kit on their site:

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/ome-lift-kits-tacoma-05-6-lug.html

Love my OME kit on and off road is awesome! Rides great.

The 4" Rough Country is a Drop-Bracket style Lift.

An OME setup would be a 2.5-3" Suspension Lift.

OME is more performance oriented upgrade. The Rough Country is more for Lift Height and Tire clearance.

would that 3 inch lift be able to clear 33 tires? if not would I need to add spacers to put the tires out wide?

You can clear whatever size tires you want with no lift. Put the OME kit on and the tires you want, you will see where it rubs then you will have to trim accordingly. If you go all terrains instead of mud terrains it will help, also a wheel with a backspacing of 4.5" will help quite a bit.

Went with the 3" OME Suspension lift and replaced the rear leaf spring with Dakar's... Tires: 285/70R17 (tire height at 32.8") with wheels that gave me 4.75 backspacing. Did remove the small mud flaps that are in front of the front tires--not sure the purpose of these--and did some minor trimming on the regular size mud flaps that are behind the front tires. Turned hard in either direction there is no rubbing. But, every now and then if I turn into a drive way too quickly I get rubbing just under the fender...

Any suggestions to perhaps fix the rubbing issue? Or is it normal?

Getting caster back right might help. Did the OME include UCAs? If not then those are what will get your caster back right. Fix rub and not drive all twitchy and pulling on uneven surfaces. Caster out will not wear tires but will grate on your nerves.

OME did not include UCA's. And you described the symptoms right on the head; "all twitchy and pulling on uneven surfaces." First time ever hearing of, "caster." THANKS! I'll check that out. Not sure what UCA's I will need...

This kit looks like it has everything I would need instead of buying everything separate. So if I do this install I would just need an alignment check right?

Any issues with the LR UCA's? I've read older posts that we're having issues then newer posts with no issues.

They fixed the issues by making "UCA version 2.0"

Had my Camburg Uniball UCA's installed.... I feel the difference but now have rub issues that weren't there before. Taking it back to the shop this Monday, think caster wasn't set correctly....
