I'm experiencing the same metallic rattling sound around 30 mph when accelerating. This really surprises me that Toyota has done nothing about this. I'm taking my truck to the dealer.

So that is knocking sound. That is the metallic type noise I am hearing. I am using 87 octane fuel.

It sounds very similar to that. Sounds like the first six seconds or so. That sound the truck makes under acceleration, going slightly uphill. I think it makes the noise more often when the ac compressor is running, and all of it comes from the engine compartment. Kinda like the sound if you are driving a manual transmission and you are in too high of a gear, and you give it gas, like a metallic gargling sound. I figured this might be the issue, but I thought to myself there is no way a new truck is doing that. I subscribed to the other post you are in. I'll stay aware of what's going on before I take it in to the dealer. I just don't want to damage the engine. Thanks for the heads up.

    4th week with '14 TRD Sport 4X4 A/C. Roughly 1K on ODO.
Noticed this morning going downhill to work at 65 mph.
Didn't notice on drive home, but had a few brews with the boys.
Really, so stoked to have a Tacoma again after the Titan. Not real concerned at this point. I usually don't answer hard questions after work on Fridays.
I will keep an eye on this thread, and add if stuff comes up.
I cannot come up with any other thing that I would like to be driving besides this truck.

I stopped running regular unleaded completely and haven't heard the noise once since.

I have a 2014 Tacoma SR5 DC Auto, having the same chatter problem. Comes from the engine bay, resembles valves tapping or something similar to that. It happens when you apply throttle during acceleration around 45 MPH, going uphill while in O/D and placing load on the engine (demanding slightly more power). I will be going to the dealer soon, just wondering if anyone has any recent developments on this situation?? Thanks folks, I'll post whatever I can find out and hopefully help you all and the future folks that may have the same issue.

Resurrecting an ancient thread. I have a ‘14 TRD OR DCSB and I’m getting this exact detailed noise. 58k on the clock. Was it ever pinpointed?
