    Are Tacoma Running Boards (part#
    $492 PT212-35053 Running Board
    PT212-35053) plastic covers on metal frame? I just ordered some used ones off Amazon "Warehouse Deals" and I cant believe they are plastic. Can anybody help me with a description of theirs? I need info before I return them. I expected more than black plastic.:mad:

    I popped mine of about 9 years ago, so I'm going off memory here. Best I can remember they were just plastic plugs that inserted into the nut-serts in the rocker panel/floor area. Mostly to keep junk from collecting in the threads and rusting out. Not much to them, I guess if you really wanted to you could get some stainless bolts and thread them back into the holes.

    Yes... they are black plastic over a metal frame. They are NOT rock sliders or tube steps or anything other than running boards. They match the plastic of your bed rail covers and the elongated holes match the roof rack if you have one of those. They fit right and look good and yes.. you can stand on them.

    Thanks silver12. I will consider keeping them since they are OEM. It's just that I was expecting something more than plastic. But I guess that's the main ingredient in today's cars.

    Let them arrive... hold one up to your great truck... see what you think in person... I'm betting you like them... I love mine. Super easy to install and easy to clean with the rest of your truck... plus they match.

    I had the OEM's on my DCSB and they looked good, but IMO were not very functional. They fit very close and to me were awkward to use as they are almost as high as just stepping into the truck. I replaced them with Nfab, which I like very much. Now I just need to sell my OEM's.

    I like them for looks, protection from door dings and my wife uses the step they provide. I'm also thinking of wiring in some subtle LED lighting on the underside that's wired into the interior lights. They would come when you open the door and light the ground near the truck. More visibility getting in and out in the dark.. Her Outback has the lights under the RB's

    Ha Ha, very good! no, I am really not that big about 5'9" 170#, (but older) I was just curious. Yes MN is a great state, I divide my time also.
    I did pick up some OEM boards, & like them.
