Yep. I have a $17 HF model that actually works pretty well. I use the bosch blades on it. I've definitely gotten my $17 worth many times over now.

I wanted that one but it wasn't available locally. Even though HD sells it and website said it was available in store.

Yeah my ridgid batteries aren't the lithium ones so I went with the corded model. Saved $100+ Having to buy a battery and charger to go with it.

I really like that book. I see there is a new revision out now.

So getting everything ready to install my new kitchen cabinets and tile the floor this fall. It is all straight forward except for this one little area - I widened the pass through from the living room to the kitchen and was left with an awkward flooring issue. You can see where the old doorway went to and I just filled in the void with a temporary threshold to keep toes from getting stubbed.

Trying to get more wood flooring to fill in the existing linoleum up to the kitchen cabinets would make the pass through all the same material as the living room and hallway, but the door doesnt line up with the cabinets, so that seems to be out of the running. I am trying to convince my wife that just tiling the floor where the existing linoleum is and thus get rid of the thresholds will leave some pretty "interesting" lines. It seems a little absurd to have a floor material change in the middle of a doorway. I am currently leaning towards removing more of the wood flooring and have the whole pass-through on the left be the same tile as the kitchen floor, and leave the transition a little closer to the camera in line with the bathroom entrance, but I can't seem to convince myself either that will be the best.

I want to do this right the first time and be satisfied with how it looks. Any input? (P.S. - ignore the bathroom flooring to the right, currently redoing the entire bathroom and saving the flooring for when I do the kitchen).

There are a lot of ways you could do the floor. In the end it all comes down to what you like.

I did a transition like that with the 1/2" tile sheets but cut one sheet and layed it out for a transition. I only bought one square.

Ripping up my PT deck after I painted it with Crapoleum Destroy (aka Rustoluem Restore)... stuff flaked off after 9 months, and you cant power wash it off, and you shouldn't sand it off because it causes cancer when aerosolized. Putting down composite and new vinyl rails this weekend.

STAY AWAY FROM RUSTOLEUM RESTORE PRODUCTS!

The Rustoleum was a huge pain to put down, took my wife and I two days, and was like tar. Within 9 months it was peeling up and sticking to our feet. It bubbled and flaked everywhere. We got a refund from Rustoleum for the 9 gallons we bought ~$250, but nothing for the $2000+ worth of decking that is now ruined. I just finished ripping it all up and am about to take it to the dump. We are working with a lawyer to join an ongoing class action lawsuit against Rustoleum, their crap has cost us big time, luckily I am handy and doing all the work myself, otherwise it would be costing us $10k to fix this, rather than the $4k in materials we bought last week.

    That's tragic in several ways.

You couldn't wet it to suprees dust and then scrape with a flooring scraper or similar to remove it, then sand boards to refinsh after the nasty shit is gone?

Shit, I would probably just tear it out too. What terrible a waste of lumber and time.

Yeah, it was clear sanding is not a first step, as he said the shit is bad if airborne anyway. That's why I said possibly wet and scrape, then sand to restablish a decent wood surface finish.

    But who likes sanding.

This is why at the old house when I was trying to decide on deck vs. paver patio, I ended up with paver patio. Of course, the site was level, so I didn't have grade to contend with. But jeez, the expense and maintenance and relative short longevity of a deck makes patios so much more attractive IMO.
